I just wanted to say that I really appreciate the fact that the gender box is indeed free-form. Wish more online services were so progressive.
Meanwhile, this is a stupid fucken MeTa.

And here's a banning for you, and yes, one for you too...
pretty_generic was banned for, if I remember correctly, brute force hacking people's accounts and posting shit pretending to be them.
To be fair, he himself did not brute force hack open anyone's account, but merely benefited from someone else's work. And I think it was just once.

To be fair, he fucked around on the site using multiple accounts he'd procured from whoever on Thanksgiving and never fully admitted it or apologized and continued to try to sign up for accounts claiming to be other people sometimes going so far as to argue with us about why we'd banned the new accounts..
---
That's the story he told anyway...
Oh dear. I was being tongue-in-cheek. Agreement all 'round that the whole thing was all kinds of fucked up.

Who the flickr is that?
Whoa. If we could narrow the mefi social explorer tool by contacts, I could engage in all sorts of stalky goodness. Please assist.

The Infinity of Defining Chatfilter
The question in my mod mind is whether the OP is trying to use AskMe to achieve higher Google rankings for his made-up terminology or if this is just an earnest attempt to get his head around some big thinking through his own less-big lens.
I am almost certain that this is the case. I've had to clean up after 0bvious on Wikipedia as well, where he links his dumb ass blog entries from tenuously related pages. He's in grad school, he is undoubtedly... [more]

Where be your gibes now? your gambols? your songs? your flashes of merriment, that were wont to set the table on a roar? Not one now, to mock your own grinning? quite chap-fallen? ALAS.

Look, I've already laid out my creepiness in front of him and a thousand* MeFite witnesses in real life, so let me just say here: jonmc was the whole reason why I finally signed up for this site after lurking for a long ass time. Someone better let me know WHAT THE FUCK is going on before I totally flip my shit.
*Well, okay, like, five or six.

Sort options for Favorites?...
The default sort on del.icio.us and flickr is acceptable because there's a more efficient way to browse (e.g. tags); there's no more efficient way to browse favorites, the default sort is the only way.

It was a philosophical question that could have...
Not every question on AskMeFi needs to have a immediately definable solution to be considered a good question.
AskMe questions should have a purpose, goal, or problem to be solved. Open-ended chatty questions that don't offer a problem to be solved are detrimental to the long term usefulness of the site.
Quit whining. And take your pseudo-philosophical questions here.

I intended to use it to keep track of posts I wanted to go back to, but am in the process over moving my favorites over to del.icio.us, which I was using before. Perhaps the search function will help, but without any sort of categorization scheme it was a real bitch to browse thorough favorites after you'd accumulated a certain amount.
