I think that given the mailed anthrax and anthrax scares, that this was not so unjustified. For all the postal workers know, these guys could have had 4, 000 anthrax filled letters ready to mail out. That would have been a bad thing.
The fact that they wanted to pay with cash and get so many stamps I think would be very suspicious. On top of that, they basically announce that they have a dislike for the american flag. I think that tipped the scales but was not the main... [more]

I also completely accepted and loved "Moulin Rouge" - although I frequently fall in love with movies that are by others' standards bad. (To me, "Unbreakable" and "The Messenger" along with "Moulin Rouge" are some of the most excellent movies I've seen)
It seems to me that the correct listing to be questioning would be "AI" - that seemed like a mess of a movie, although maybe the Board loved Teddy as much as I did.... [more]

I've been a Mac tech for almost 6 years now and I...
Since when is a prediction of doom for Apple newsworthy? I am not worried. Why would anyone choose to switch to Windows instead of OS X? The learning curve would be just as steep and for sure you would have to replace all your hardware and software. For that reward, you would get an undoubtedly (in my opinion) inferior OS.
If you are using Macs in the first place, you likely have a great reason to be doing so. Otherwise, the average Joe with no idea of what he wants or... [more]

Why design for the impact and not the fire?
I imagine it would be pracitcally impossible to protect a building and people in it from such a strong jet fuel fire.
However, it is very important to remember that A LOT of people had the time to evacuate the building between the time the planes struck and the time the buildings collapsed. ( I think they lasted for about an hour?)
This is why... [more]

Is anyone here red-green color blind? If so, does the green ketchup look different from normal ketchup to you? If not, then you can join the fun now with the purple ketchup maybe.
I bought some of the green because I thought it was cool - it is actually a new experience to eat it - your brain thinks it should taste strange or disgusting - but it just tastes like ketchup! I think maybe it was runnier than red ketchup though. It looks like oil paint in fact.... [more]

It is clear that you have not been exposed to the writings of Van gogh, his letters to his brother Theo and his friends. And you probably haven't read Irving Stone's "Lust for Life." If you had, you would better understand why Vincent Van Gogh is... [more]

who knows? It is possible that a majority of people know about him and care about him strictly as an artist. However, I assert that many people care much more about him and his art because of their knowledge of the rest of his life.
I was never particularly fond of his work until I learned about his life in an art history course in college. It sparked my interest in him, and since then I have developed a much deeper apprectiation of his life and art.... [more]

I thought that the announcement of OS X 10.1 was rather cool. Judging from what was demoed, it appears to be a significant improvement in performance. And it will be a free upgrade. I think he said it will be released in september.
Problem is I don't use OS X since Adobe and Macromedia still haven't released anything for it. Macromedia was not even in Steve's top 10 list and Adobe didn't even mention Photoshop. This is progressing slowly. Good thing I am so happy with 9.... [more]

I just want to say that this movie is a monumental breakthrough in film-making no matter what any of the critics want to say about the "plot" or "story."
I saw it last-night and throughout the entire film just kept thinking about how awesome it was to look at. I need to see it again and pay attention to the story more I guess. Although, the story seemed very much like the story of Final Fantasy 9 game- or at least it had the same themes.
However,... [more]

Only if the progression of fantasies is linear.
i guess.
The Final Fantasy series is not a series like Star Wars, where there is Episode 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc.
The Final Fantasy titles exist independent from one another. Before this movie, none had any specific setting in time or space. That was the one thing about the movie that went against the series, as it was set on Earth in the future.

Wow, it is very interesting to hear some of these comments that are coming from non-designers (apparently) expressing their attitudes about designers. I think they don't realize how difficult it is to deal with typography on the internet.
For one thing, a lot of people are advocating using ems or percentages because that gives the user more control over the site. This makes sense, but unfortunately DOESN'T WORK. For one thing, a user does not want to have any control... [more]
