"... The Bronx is up and the Battery's down ..."
I think me and the gal would be up for this one as well as the Lola G one.
Now, off to a picnic on riverside park!

Also, will there be any way to describe the location somewhat better? Or an identifying characteristic?

Hot Fun in the Summertime.
I was just coming here to see if there were any NYC meetups I was missing. I have no suggestions, but am very interested in being there.

I'm up for dinoBBQ too. Although the making a reservation thing puts the entire meetup into a different light. BBQ will help in enticing the MeFiMember GF, though.
Lola, was that Carlin reference partially due to him being (repeated) on Brian Lehrer this morning. He started off discussing his neighborhood.

7 is a bit tight for us...would 7:30 or 8 be okay? If not, we'll just have to hustle.

Me and Rubberkey will be there at 7:30. Work in the middle of Jersey prevents me from making the 7 one.

Oh shit, it's a walk-off!
A. B should work just as well, but it doesn't. Too little white er green space surrounding a cluster. With B, when you're looking at a tag, your eye is hit with yellow on all sides. With A, there's lots of room to breathe.

Highlighting the original questioner's comments in Ask Metafilter - good idea or bad?
Back on topic: I think the idea is great and Cillit Bang's suggestion of outdenting the text the most subtle and least confusing and yet totally valuable. Instead of scrolling/scanning for lighter/darker green, you look at the left margin and scroll until something's in it. Depending on how the CSS is done, this might be difficult due to the box model.

While we're at it, I'd love just a teensy bit more white (green/blue/grey) space between comments than between paragraphs. When people use multiple paragraphs, it's confusing to tell where it ends.
I know that makes me sound like a moron since it has "Posted by the Deej" but its late and I can't quite describe how it does, but it does.

It's not a question if your voice doesn't go up at the end
Problem
On the front page, your summary exists on it's own, on your question page it is part of the whole. That's a tough thing to write for. It's like the way Sunday comics have that two panel joke at the beginning.
It also means that we're looking at two different situations. One where the question can be asked completely on the front page and more info is just, well...more info. The other is where a question relies so much on context that the front page... [more]

I want my askme back!
I think we're trying to solve the wrong problem. No matter how limited each of us individually are, there are certainly enough people with possible questions to fill up the front page + n (and therefore cause scrolling) on any given day. Several brainstorm ideas:
Limit the total number of questions per day
Pretty self explanatory.
Pros: Simple. Clear. Affects all users equally.
Cons: Waiting... [more]

I was going to post this in the thread, with the expectation that it would be deleted as noise, but thought this approach might be more constructive.
Its my first callout, so I'll try and load up on the snark next time.

Ok, this one's a bit of a long shot. A while back,...
Late to the party, but I was really impressed when that infamous poop thread had 10 favorites and 0 answers. Like everybody came along, said "ooh this is gonna be...something" and was quietly waiting with baited breath. If it weren't for favorites, I would have thought it was community shunning due to the subject matter. I'm proud AskMe is above than that.
We're not above making silly poop jokes though.

I'm so late but I have to point out that all the bees in the hive are pretty damn related to each other. Almost clones or something.

Please don't create deliberately misleading tags....
I found the tags to be funny (with the punchline of "misleading tags") and very much in the spirit of the reviews linked. But just because it made me laugh doesn't make it useful to the community.
Just voicing this so that if they get deleted, blue_beetle will know it had the intended effect and all parties will be happy.

A wee small pony: could best answers in AskMe...
Maybe small text after the question with
Best answers: 1, 2, 3,
each one being a link to that answer?
Or maybe a link on the question page that says "Show only best answers" and ajax-y auto hiding of everything else?
Just brainstorming.

Love/Hate: I can't read AskMeFi (CSS help?). Does...
I was actually going to post about the alternating colors because I run 1600x1200 and the line lengths are long when i have FF maximized (which is always). So it's kind of difficult because the space between paragraphs is the same as the space between comments.
But I'd be all for a "just me" fix, like user style sheets, etc.
