I think Bill Watterson was right to quit when he knew that the time was right. If he had continued the strip and quality had gone down, or if he had sold it out to do cartoons like this one would we remember it for the brilliance it was? Just look at Garfield for an example of what could have happened to Calvin and Hobbes. It makes one appreciate the standard Watterson kept. Hollywood would probably be making the real life version of Calvin and Hobbes right now with a CG Hobbes...... [more]

I think this would have been much better with Bush instead of Hillary. Have him talking about why he needs to tap phones and suspend rights...seems more appropriate given the 1984 motif.

Weird, The Scream is one of my favorite paintings and Mad World remains one of my all time favorite songs. Something about Gary Jules' version just makes the song so amazingly great and yet so amazingly sad that I have a hard time listening to it at times. Also featured in the classic Donnie Darko movie...

The chevy machine ad just made me sad about the state of the American car industry. When the ex-marine, flag waving, limbaugh republican, live free or die, America love it or leave it guy in my office shows up driving a Toyota because American cars suck...well it doesn't bode well for them. Purely anecdotal and off topic...

I did the same thing as Osmanthus above and found the song just amazing on its own. For a second was a little mystified as to what all the commotion was upon coming back to this thread and seeing all the comments.

I didn't really laugh at the two videos featured...

A. Because the secret of video cameras is that in 90% of the cases no one is watching the cameras. If they are, most of the time there are many of them and only one person watching. The truth of the matter is most of the time they are only there to record any crimes for evidence later.

I found the jimi from a green thread awhile ago and haven't looked back since.

I liked the first trial balloon definition better that would have increased our number of planets to 12 and increasing, but would be a little happier if at least they made "dwarf planet" an actual subset of "planet" and not a separately defined object entirely. That would still mean its a planet essentially.

At least that is my understanding of what they did with Pluto. Am I right on this?
