Scary Horror Scenes
Many good recommendations here. The one that sticks in my mind is from the end of The Shining. Shelley Duval and the kid are running out of the Hotel and they pass a guy in a bear suit (?) going down on a guy in a tuxedo. It was easily the most invasive feeling I've ever had from a movie.

What bothered me most about the furry scene wasn't any of the present elements, rather it was the feeling of invasion. The stare was just unnerving. That said, it is entirely possible that was contextual, a violation of some sort of film to film watcher contract. Doesn't change the fact that I still refuse to watch the youtube clip.
Also, this thread made me sleep with a light on last night. I've never done that before. Thanks y'all.

Tips for a long cross-country drive?
Earlier this year I did St. Louis to Fayetteville, NC with 2 kids in my car. It took me about 16 hours in one day. I was pretty sure I was gonna die. Now, I like long road trips, but 16 is pushing it. The return trip at 14 hours after about 4 hours of sleep return trip by myself led to a panic attack on a bridge. All I'm saying is be careful, and try to limit yourself to 11 or 12 hours of driving, if you must. 8 is preferable and way more enjoyable.

Turns out I'm still pretty tired. Ignore one of the references to return trip.

Is there a Bible for liberals?
The most common Bible used by the more progressive denominations is the New Revised Standard. The Oxford Annotated edition is what they recommended at the UCC Seminary I briefly attended.

Saul Williams-esque
I've been using intellectual as short hand for something more engaging than what I hear on radio, i.e. the acquisition of money, and women.
As to what I'm responding to: in order 1. lyrical content 2. slam influenced presentation and 3. Reznor influences.

Thanks Mefi. This certainly gives me a large, and apparently diverse list to start looking over. You guys rock.

Help me get my Goth on.
Please, for the love of all that is, don't dress like the Crow. Please.
You could do worse than learning from the A to Z of Goth Fashion here
Seriously, Goth is/was about expressing yourself. Albeit in a dark way. Fishnets are always good for a shirt (cut out the crotch!), a pair of boots, and some tight black pants.
And muss up that hair.

scanning printed document
With OCR scanning software like Omnipage you should be able to do it. But, OCR scanning is notoriously unreliable, or at least was the last time I used it.

I should warn you that Kinko's will likely quote you an outrageous amount of money and give you a 24 hour turnaround. (Or at least I always used to)

Anything I should know about St. John's College?
Thank you all for your feedback. This has been extremely helpful. As a point of interest, I was looking at the Santa Fe campus with an eye toward doctoral studies in the future, likely in comparitive religion. Again, thank you.
