Whackity schmackity doo, kids!
Patton Oswalt is a homophobic asshole who doesn't deserve my time.
Flagged. Pointlessly, but there's my vote.

Fuck you LH, you have no business coming at me like that.
I've seen Patton Oswalt live, and I walked out after the third time he said the word "fag".
Can I back it up online? No. Do I have personal experience with it? Yes. Now deal with it.

Wow, you people take this shit (and me) way, way too seriously. I think your favorite entertainer sucks because he insulted the audience, and I'm an asshole, rude, short tempered and jumping to conclusions. Y'all need a skin.

I wasn't trying to thread shit and I am no troll, check my history. I made a throwaway comment about the guy and I stand by it, everyone disagrees, okay, enough said. This is so not worth energy or time to discuss. It happened a while ago, maybe he's changed his tune, maybe he was drunk, whatever. It's totally irrelevant in any case.

I have been actively pursuing dual citizenship in Ireland. I'm not sure who to bribe, but I'm pretty sure I'll move to Ireland or Europe in the next ten years or so.

Trust in Textbooks
If you don't like a textbook that's being used by schools, write your own damn textbook and convince your school board to use it. That's called "representative government," people.
Local school boards have some control over some textbooks in some classes.
Most school boards follow state policy as a matter of course (there are always exceptions, though). And those state boards follow the recommendation of textbook review boards.... [more]

The Audacity of Government
How have we allowed tyranny to take over our nation?
Apathy? A news media that's interested in keeping our 3.2 second long attention span keenly focused on "ZOMG amissingwhitegirl ZOMG" because that sells airtime by keeping our myopic eyeballs stuck to the screen while Airwick sells us automatic scent dispensers?
I don't think George Bush or Dick Cheney are at fault. I blame us, the American people, for electing... [more]

Best of the Cool
My technician fixed his laptop once. Joe came in to pick it up. I asked him at the time if we could talk about some of the technology he was using, and I asked him if I could refer clients his way. And the answer was "No. And never call me. Never link to me. Never discuss me with anyone else. Goodbye".
That was last year. So I too think he's an asshole with dated ideas and shitty social skills.

...except I'd never heard of him until he showed up with a laptop that needed fixing. Nah, he was an asshole without fame, it's just a fluke he showed up here. I don't think this is a good FPP either, because frankly, his work is dated and kind of sucky.

The parents are dumbshits for not transferring the boy to another school. What does making him a martyr prove - other than fucking him up?
And putting it in the paper? Yeah, smart move there too.
I was absolutely picked on in school - glasses, I was missing teeth from a bike accident, I was small for my age, and I was smarter than most kids. The best thing my parents could have done was fixed my appearance issues and sent me to a different... [more]

Force majeure axe
I'd be inclined to take a stand about this "strike" - if kids were starving, work hours were horrible, working conditions were beyond the pale, and if there were actual deaths occurring because Management was oppressing the workforce.
But it ain't so. Some entertainment industry writers - not as well paid as they COULD be but certainly not starving - are pissed because they COULD be paid more.

I just thank god every day that I have the local news to tell me who the bad people are. Because without them, why, I just don't think I'd be able to tell a rapist from an auto worker. Or a cop. Or a fireman. Or a dentist. Or a doctor. Or an aunt. Or an uncle, a cousin, a sister, a brother.
They're not all creepy looking middle aged white guys that drive vans around schoolyards, are they? Yet, that's the first image I get in my brain when someone says "sex offender".... [more]

Latte it Forward?
When I lived in London, Ontario and was commuting back and forth to Detroit every weekend, I often paid the toll for the car (or two) following me just because it felt good to do it. This was in 1982.
I didn't need a holiday or a reason, although it was always nice to have them pull up alongside on the 401 and mouth "Thanks".
Not every small act like this has to be viral.

Hey, I know that guy.
This is all the work of a friend's stepfather. I got to see these cars in person and poked around them quite a bit a few years ago.
The footage speaks for itself but it's pretty old. They should update it. The cars are cool and it was fun crawling around them when I was at their shop. The prototypes I saw were in various stages of torn-apartness, but all of the ones I saw were more advanced than the ohgizmo prototype (the... [more]

Van Halen Off Key
So I saw them last night (Detroit second show).
DLR miffed it a couple of times - came in late, mainly. I can't remember what song, but at one point the rest of the band was so far ahead of him it was just obvious to the crowd.
The instruments are a LOT louder than the vocals (I am still deaf - seriously). This is a good thing, DLR's range is pretty diminished, I think.

So this is another one of those web 2.5 apps that's going to change my life, arrange how I deal with all my stuff, and help me cure cancer?

I think the idea of an online scrapbook is pretty neat. I like their paradigm. But what are they doing with the data that they're collecting?
No, building things to make money is not a crime. And they'd be crazy to develop it without collecting the data and selling it. Doesn't mean I have to like it.
I don't like the idea that demographic data is being bought and sold, based on the content of my scrapbook. When does the product placement begin?... [more]

I have created and taken down about 5 blogs in the same number of years.
My comment history shows why: I really have nothing very interesting to say to the Internet. I sit down with an idea and a few thoughts, and end up backspacing over them.
Take this comment, for instance. It' s absolutely boring me to to tears.
