How do Upper West Side grocery stores comare with one another?
Welcome to the neighborhood
First off, I'm not working consistently, so for me, price is the issue.
I shop at a few different places. Groceries at 125 near Broadway (a bit East). Near vegetables at 103 and Amsterdam (Kims, I think it's called). Far vegetables: Vendors line up next to the Manhattan Bridge (North Side). Seafood from Fish Corner (Where Canal bends in the middle, south side). Olives and Cheese from West Side, Broadway north of... [more]

How to speak with someone who stutters
Me? I'm not offended when someone adds the word I am struggling with. I'm trying to communicate something, and having the listener help isn't an issue. It's very similar to not remembering something, and pausing as a friend remembers a name or word for me.
The issue is how your student feels. Try adding the word for him, he will either smile in relief or snarl at you.
In my case, I catch people unaware when first meeting, and many parody my... [more]

Can you recommend someone to treat my TMJ problems?
I'm not from the South, so no specific recommendation, but my dentist makes me a device that sits between my teeth, similar to what a football player wears. I chew through it every couple years.
It helps me a lot.

yak: Yes, it's called a splint. I don't notice any tapering in back. I wear mine all the time, only removing for brushing.

Lighting Paper Lanterns
My thinking is that you are measuring the amount of light that hits the paper. The only factor is the distance between the center (where the bulbs are), to the paper. If your measurements are diameters, this makes the radii (about) 6", 7", and 8". I don't think it will be noticeable between those distances. Put me in the "not really matter" camp.

How do I respond to 9/11 Conspiracy theorist friend?
I agree with loiseau. If you don't want to debate the issue, then don't debate the issue. As you see in any 9/11 thread, there is a counter-argument for every argument.
Regarding 9/11, a good friend says "God, if I believed that, life would become very difficult." It ends the conversation, which is your goal.
