I have an Epson R260 that seems to somewhat ignore the size settings that I set in Photoshop. What gives?

I have an old Active XP-Pen graphics tablet with up to date drivers that I use for occasional graphic design work in Photoshop CS2. All seems to be fine except when I use the smudge tool. After a short while the action on screen becomes laggy and then Photoshop hangs completely. No amount of waiting has brought it back so far so I lose work. Will getting a nice shiney new Wacom tablet solve my problem or is this more likely a hardware issue on my PC's side?

Classical Music Filter: Can anyone recommend pieces of classical piano music in a similar style to the
Sonatica by Bear McCreary from Battlestar Galactica? I have some Olivier Messiaen stuff in a similar vein but would love more in the same mellow, slightly offkilter and whistful piano style. Thanks!

My clients emails from their Blackberry always end up in my email providers spam quarantine with the text of the mail garbled. Their "from address" comes through on the headers as From: "=?utf-8?B?SmVzc2UgUmFiaW5vd2l0eg==?=". My email provider says my client needs to fix that. My client thinks that they don't have a problem. Is this the way that blackberry emails normally identify themselves in email headers or is my clients set up faulty?

I'm a dog walker in NYC and despite having stated that dogwalking is not a substitute for overnight care in the service agreement that I make owners sign, a customer is using 2 x 10 minute dog walks a day as care for her dog while she has been away for two nights.

I have a Dell 8600 laptop on which it seems that the power switch has slowly died. Is there any way to save him?

The tenants that I had in my house in London trashed the place and ran out on me leaving me seriously out of pocket. I'm in New York and poor. Anyone had any experience of chasing these things through the courts from another country?

OK, Sunday morning stream of consciousness ended up with me wondering about skin or more specifically, loose skin.

Help me figure out if this is a scam and if so how? We're looking to rent an apartment in NYC and have found somewhere through Craigslist that looks great but the process is complicated by the fact that the potential Landlord is out of the country. He's sent us an email (contents after the jump) on how he proposes getting us the keys and us completing the contract if we like the apartment. I can't see how it's a scam but it smells kind of odd... Mefite detectives, go to it!

So I woke up this morning with a few bug bites on me which isn't unusual in the summer in Manhattan with the window open, but... one of the bites is kinda weird...

Where does the usage of "speaks to" to mean "speaks about" or "speaks of" come from. For example, "It speaks to our will to be goverened that we allow these things to happen"? Characters on Boston Legal are constantly using it also. It speaks to my frustration that I've not been able to find anything on its etymology on google.

In the UK I banked with the
Co-op Bank because of its ethical policies. Now I live in New York and I want to open a US checking account with a bank with a similar ethical outlook, so my money (such as it is!) doesn't get used to finance bad stuff. Googling doesn't show up anything similar apart from the
Common Good Bank which isn't actually open yet. So who should I use ethical Mefites?

Hi, I'm thinking of short story I read a while ago where the worlds communications system (telephones pre-net I think) became sentient. First sign of it doing so was that it started putting people in touch with each other that it thought might like each other like some crazy dating agency and finally it achieves full intelligence and starts communicating with a telecommunications system in another galaxy. Oh how I've looked!
Or maybe I dreamt it in which case forget you ever read this and I'll write the story!
