On your bumper and accelerating
Rarely do I see people tailgating casually, as if they only feel safe when another car is nearby, but it does happen. Typically I find tailgating to mean that the tailgater needs (or wants) to travel faster than traffic ahead of them will allow. The "problem" of tailgating is caused by people who refuse to move over, or who don't pay attention to their rearview mirrors.
In a word: the clueless. One thing I've learned through my own experience is that sometimes... [more]

Jobs that are okay to leave
Temp agencies are hardcore exploiters, why would you feel guilty about leaving them? Seriously, on first blush my answer to your question is "all of them." However, it sounds more like you're trying to avoid becoming attached to a job, which is a strange way of dealing with not knowing what you want to do.

Contractor going to work for contractee?
I bet there's something in the contract between the company and the agency about this. I don't think it'd hurt to ask your company contact. Just couch it naively, like, "You think a company like this would hire a guy like me?"

Help me examine my FAT.
NTFS uses a b-tree filesystem that is much more robust. I don't think you can do what you want in FAT32 since each sector only has a pointer to the next one in a chain. We wouldn't need expensive data recovery if orphaned clusters had this property, unfortunately. Caveat: I haven't paid attention to a lot of this for a few years, so my contribution is just based on standards.

What to do with photographs?
Start with your grandmother. Alzheimer's patients can often recall the old memories that those photos depend on. Good luck, it's an admirable project!

What are the dirt circles at Wrigley Field for?
More info. Fungoes are practice hits with a special bat (thinner) that some coaches do. They do it from the circles so the plate area doesn't get all messed up. Gotta keep a tidy home! They're a traditional feature and not all ballparks have them.

An Appeal for an Appeals Lawyer
She is going to have to go through the 2nd Circuit before she can go SCOTUS. It doesn't sound like the appeal has even been brought up to the federal level yet.

Hmm, now I'm thinking that whomever is giving lawyerly advice to Shane's friend might have meant the CT State Supreme Ct., and someone along the line misunderstood what the next steps might be.

How many servers per country are there?
Translating shipped servers into a breakdown of server role(s) is going to be very difficult. This data would need to be self-reported by those taking shipment and IT architecture is typically handled under trade secret and/or security considerations. You might want to rethink this.

How to choose client side technologies for a new web project.
Flash runs like crap on OSX. Flash does not degrade. It's entirely possible that the powers that be only care about majority browsers (i.e. Windows), but that's a different battle.
There are some things that it can do well, but that's no reason to subsume the entire site under the technology. Go with standards-based development.
Also, I'm not quite sure that the following makes sense:
"Better integration with client... [more]

Quite a snafu at court today
A police officer who would make a mistake in writing down a court date might not be any more reliable in estimating your speed or even to read a radar gun properly. Just saying, your chance here is to impeach the only witness against you. It's more of a weaselly technicality if they say your car is green when it's brown, but I think the judge might consider your position more thoroughly if the mistake made actually caused a warrant to be issued. Those things go on your permanent record after all... [more]

Not money-laundering, I swear!
Have each team set up a Paypal account and make it easy for them to add a widget to their team page. Then you won't have to deal with the money side at all, at least as far as team assets go.

Run multiple php websites from a single server?
What do you mean by "use the script from one source to actually run?"
Typically what you're talking about is handled by keeping the one copy in a version control facility such as Subversion, then checking out the latest version whenever the servers should be updated. Think in terms of "releasing" or "publishing."
On the other hand, it may just be that you could run all of the sites from one server, with virtual hosts... [more]

How to get art insurance?
As I understand it (here in California), there are basically two kinds of homeowner's insurance at your (our) level. The one you get when you tack on the extra deal when you're renewing your auto insurance (like Renter's Insurance) is just a catchall bucket, $10K, $25K, etc. depending on how much stuff you think you have. You can go through and inventory your world and make sure you have everything cataloged and appraised, but at the end of the day you're just going to get a check for whatever... [more]
