Another living room recording, this time live on a single mic. A lesser-known Roger Miller tune interpolated with Stone's Rag, featuring some important lessons about Corwin Bolt & the Wingnuts' second-favorite barnyard animal.
Written by Gram Parsons and originally recorded by the Flying Burrito Brothers in 1969. It's one of our favorites and is just as relevant today as ever so here we (Corwin Bolt & the Wingnuts) are.
Work in progress, a classic fiddle rag with some new old time fun. Words and arrangement by Mr. Corwin Bolt, played by the Wingnuts.
Night Train to Memphis by Roy Acuff Jr, recorded live by Corwin Bolt & the Wingnuts in Eugene, OR, 8/29/2016. Old time fiddle music with a washboard groove.
A traditional fiddle tune, recorded live at the Rainspout festival in Yachats, OR, November 2015.
An arrangement of the traditional fiddle tune with its not-often-heard lyrics. Full album now streaming on Bandcamp.
A traditional bluegrass arrangement of the classic spiritual by my band, Green Mountain Bluegrass Band. From our new (and first studio) album, City Limits.
An original song by my old band, Selected Letters. Alto Sax, Oboe, Violin, Guitar, Bass, Drums, and a good mix of tight arrangement and improvisation. I miss this band a lot, but it was great while it lasted.
Another track by Selected Letters (my sadly defunct band). Music by J. Sher and I. Ochs, lyrics by R. Witte. Enjoy!
We'll Drive This Car ('Til Hell Is Shooting Out the Stars) - Selected Letters We just played our last show ever this Friday night (a house party at Kenyon College in Ohio - we're all former or current students there) and I wanted to post one of our best songs to commemorate a great year. I miss them already. Selected Letters is: Ira Ochs on the bass guitar Joe Donohue on the guitar Alex Murphy on the drums Evan Axelbaum on the saxophone Riley Witte on the oboe Jeremy Sher (that's me!) on the violin
Classical music meets instrumental tango salsa rock. Live recording from the Ohio Action benefit show, October, Kenyon College. I took the solo on this track, replacing vocals with a violin "guest vocalist."
Blues Lounge Rock - from my band's 2006 demo.
Another cut from my band's demo.
From my band's (The Expert) 2006 demo.
