Actionscript physics of curveball
Forgot a bit: Do any of you Actionscript folk know the fancy wizardry behind this seemingly black magic?

That's what I was thinking too. The curve physics still has me stumped, however.

How do you determine the velocity / angle of the paddle at the moment of impact?

The gig/jig is up
If you combine those results, nearly 2/3 think it's "jig is up," which it is. That's a majority, dear sir. The internet is now in recess.

Help me choose a cell phone (AT&T)
I have a Samsung Blackjack, and it's great for texting -- full qwerty keyboard, text functions are only one button click away. The battery life could be better, but if you turn off all the crap like bluetooth discovery, etc. you can get some decent mileage out of each charge.

Fantasy Baseball for lazy retards
Ideally, what I'd like is something like this: at the beginning of the season we draft players for our team, or auto-draft or whatever. Over the course of a month the website tallies how well each player does, and guesstimates how well the team would do. Then, every so often (monthly, every two months), you can trade a player or two. Basically, I just want to check in at the end of the day, see how my team did, and close the tab. Is there anything out there that low maintenance?

How can I make money while traveling?
Travel to places where your money goes further: Asia, South America. Avoid western countries. (Yeehaw!) I don't have any recommendations on specific items to buy and sell, but there's a large circuit of travelers wandering the world on the cheap, taking odd jobs here and there to cover their expenses. Here's a book that's dedicated to helping travelers find jobs on the road.

Looking for good, cheap olive oil

Not looking to manufacture or resell. A friend in the cooking biz once hooked me up with a big tin of "really good olive oil" from one of his distributors. For cheap. That's what I'm looking for; Brand recommendation, websites that sell them....that kind of stuff.

Chemical Brothers + Romania = help getting tickets!
Thanks, alse.
When i choose the last option, it asks for several more things which I'm not sure of:
"Serie pasaport" (passport number?)
"Tara"
"Oras"
"Cod postal" (zip code?)
"Adresa" (Address?)

Okay, I put all of that in, hit next, and it gives me this before sending me back to the main page:
"Ne pare rau, momentan nu puteti comanda prin Plata Online.
Va rugam contactati-ne la numarul de telefon: 021.311.93.23 pentru lamuriri."
What's that mean?

Where to park a 45 foot bus?
Do you have a show in Chicago? Most times the venues will take care of bus parking, especially if you include it in the rider. If you do have a show, and the venue doesn't know you have a 45-foot bus, please let them know. This was always a real pain-in-the-ass when a band would show up in a gigantic bus and we hadn't yet secured a spot for them. (The venue I booked at was in a downtown location with limited parking, so we had to block part of the street for busses, which required approval... [more]

Why does it hurt when I jump on a trampoline?
FWIW, I was the same way as a kid (I presume I'm still the same way, thought it's been 15 years since I've attempted to jump on a trampoline).
I would get a sharp pain in my lower back every time I jumped.

How does mlb.tv know how to screw you?
Hmm, that 2nd question I linked mentioned that using a proxy makes mlb.tv all but unwatchable. Maybe I should just stick to the radio version. Damn the MLB and it's insistence on shutting out fans with money to blow.

The more I think about it, the harder it becomes for me to believe that they only use IP. Imagine if a NY Mets fan from San Francisco purchased mlb.tv and then one day found himself on a business trip to the big apple... would he not be able to watch mlb.tv in NYC, since his ip would now be resolving to that location?
It's very confusing.

Why did so many of my children die of dysentery? Why did the buffaloes move so slowly, making it impossible NOT to shoot them? And why did my wagon sink, 4 times out of 5, whenever I tried to ford a river?

Ew, ewwww that smell
I used to smell this exact scent when I lived in Columbia, Missouri. I was told that it was coming from a funeral home where they performed creamations. I never knew how I could verify this, but I did live right down the street from one, and I only smelled it during the day.

Stir Fry Advice
I'll give up some personal advice:
-Get a nice wok.
-Use a small amount of oil.
-Let the wok heat up until it is as hot as allowed by your stove.
-Don't try to stir-fry too many veggies at once. This leads to soggyness.
-Don't move the contents around the wok too much. Let them sit for a while in the same spot, then flip.
I don't have any advice for sauces. I use the store-bought business.

Train from Boston to Gainesville, FL = crazy?
Train travelling is absolutely reasonable--if you don't mind it taking 24 hours plus.
I've travelled via rail and it's actually quite enjoyable, though I've never been on one for over a day.
But I've seen plenty of families traveling together. It's better than a car, because you can get up, walk around, read--do as you wish, while not being tied to the wheel.
It looks like Amtrak would take you as far as Jacksonville,... [more]

TGP or not TGP, that is the question
TGP = Thumbnail Gallery Post. Sort of like a gallery aggregator. You don't create the content, you just point people to free galleries, or host free content on your site. It's the cleanest type of porn site around.

And I'm not looking for content suggestions; I need unique site and/or feature suggestions. For instance, a digg like features where popular galleries can be voted up or down, or the ability to save galleries into a favorites folder (both have already been done, I know, but it was just an example).
Think of it as a MeTa for TGPs... I'm looking for feature requests.

Razor bumps
My dermatologist told me that some people simply can't get rid of the bumps, at least not without cortisone creams and the like. I don't want to sound like a defeatist, but if you're not willing to spring for the expensive prescriptions, you might be better off growing a beard or using a beard trimmer to achieve a 5 o'clock shadow look.
