What's an effective way to describe social anxiety and panic attacks to people who are unfamiliar with these concepts? Sometimes, there's little choice but to attempt an explanation, on the spot (let's assume you're not carrying around literature with you). How would you handle that? Metaphors? Anecdotes?

The scholarly literature forms a vast network of academic papers connected to one another by citations in bibliographies and footnotes. The structure of this network reflects millions of decisions by individual scholars about which papers are important and relevant to their own work. Therefore within the structure of this network is a wealth of information about the relative influence of individual journals, and also about the patterns of relations among academic disciplines. Our aim at eigenfactor.org is develop ways of extracting this information.

The Stupid Ring
is 'Earth's largest Tolkien parody.' Given a taste of
The Lord of the Rings on
the big screen [warning: sound], some wacky Tolkien fans craved more. So they rewrote the entire book as a movie script. All sixty-plus chapters. Every scene, every song. And then some. Possibly while drunk.
