Thirding The Go! Team.. matches your description to a T, and there's 2 albums worth of songs to choose from.

Ask post: True or false: blonde hair will regrow darker if plucked?
I'm not so sure it's a myth based on personal experience. But it could just be like articwoman says, sometimes your hair changes over time and if you're paying careful attention to it because you're removing it, you attribute its changes to the fact that you're removing it.

Ask post: "In a world..."
I have the same problem, but it doesn't bother me. Subtitles are helpful if it's on DVD. If not and if it's an enjoyable movie, I want to watch it over and over anyway, and in the process find myself saying "Ohhhhh that's why..." and those little revelations amuse me. If it's not an enjoyable movie I don't care if I get it or not.

Personally, I have a weakness with retaining verbal/audible information, that's where the subtitles become helpful. Your comment about teacher read-aloud time made me think of that. In that case, the subtitles aren't really a crutch, just a tool. Other than that, the only thing I could think of to tackle the problem head on would be to practice on focusing and watch alot of movies and also try reading some novels or listening to them on your commute. Also, don't beat yourself up. Alot of the... [more]

Ask post: Is my cat abnormally stupid, or is she a little blind?
Being that you got her from the SPCA, she may not have had the greatest of upbringings and just was never taught or encouraged to do these things, like knowing that you can use your paw to open the door, etc. I'm not sure how that accounts for everything, but it might be something else to consider?

Everyone I know knows the lyrics to the Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme song. Other classic tv theme songs may work as well and you can do them call and response line by line.

Hmmm... thanks for your helpful responses everyone. I'll be much more prepared now when I go see the doctor.

Notes:
I did go to Lenscrafters like I always do, just because I don't think about my glasses/can't afford to replace them till I break them and it becomes an emergency that needs to be resolved today...(they gave me a set of "loaner lenses" for the distance only that I used till my fancy lenses were ready a week later) I do have faith in... Ask post: not a goulash
Look into If On a Winter's Night a Traveler by Italo Calvino. It's about a Reader who is attempting to read one book, but keeps finding odd chapters from other books instead. Each one of those chapters is included. I'm not sure if it's exactly what you want because, actually, I didn't get all the way through it, but it's something to look at.

Ask post: Tips For Studying & Reading Most of the Day, Everyday?
Think if you can actually get work done in a coffee shop. I know I can't. There's no room to spread out, there's people making noise, there's nonstop latte drinking. Libraries with or without wifi work better for me. And goals are really helpful to stay focused. But don't spend more time plotting out your goals than you do studying.

Ask post: Klippan help plz
OK, maybe I should have said mid-back support. I would like just a tiny bit more. I didn't realize this couch is designed to make you sit like a Buddhist monk.. which could be a feature rather than a bug, but takes alot of getting used to I guess. It's against a wall now, but my makeshift pillows look really poor and sloppy and don't work great either. Otherwise, I love the way it looks and it fits perfectly where it needs to fit, which is why I want to keep it. I just want it to act right as... [more]

Ask post: To live an hour outside of the city
I'm pretty sure Amtrak is too expensive to be viable for a daily commute - I just looked now and it's over $100 round trip. For commuting you would have to look at where the commuter rail lines go. You can take a look at the online maps forMetroNorth (Westchester), Long Island Railroad, or NJTransit to get an idea of how far out they go. You can also use the maps to see how far average train ride into Penn Station or Grand Central will take. Personally, I would focus on Westchester or NJ but... [more]

Ask post: Alternative for chest of drawers to keep clothes?
I'm a big fan of having everything hanging on hangers - even t-shirts and sweaters can be folded in half and hung up, and this prevents them from getting all smushed inside the drawer as you shuffle through them to find the one you want.

I have underwear/socks/etc. in those hanging canvas things (a few dollars in the Ikea As-Is section). I also have this bed from Ikea which has really nice looking and functional drawers that are on little wheels.... [more]

What if you had the motor pumping the water up through the middle of the box? If you used a cut up pipe for the top box, like job1270 suggested, you could use another piece of cut pipe to hide the motor, and then I'm envisioning the water coming up from the middle and therefore falling down all around more evenly, rather than being pumped in from one side. Also it would look cool. Unless I'm misunderstanding your blueprint.

It might be your mattress sucks AND you're hurt. If you get a cheap mattress and you can sleep a little easier, then it'll be worth it. If you still can't sleep then you know you're really hurt.

I interpreted "ol wu wopte" as something like "a good time", meaning "trying to have a fun, romantic getaway but everyone kept calling me ("where are you, yeezy" i assumed to be slang meaning "dude") and then the paparazzi showed up and harassed us and i'm sorry". This is just my interpretation, but it works for me and the music video i see in my head when i hear this song.

Ask post: Troubled Teen, Perplexed Parent
If school is so boring and annoying to him, see if you can't get him into Advanced Placement or maybe double up on his credits so he can graduate early. It's a terrible idea to have him sitting home alone on the internet all day and night. I don't know what you expect him to be doing totally on his own all day and night. But this whole setup is totally bizarre and it's not something that needs to be fixed with routers and software.

That doesn't sound unreasonable to me at all. If they are your friends it should be OK to be honest with them. Have you ever brought this up with them? They might not realize it's problematic for you. Just mention it in a calm, friendly manner and work it out. You are allowed to fix this. I wouldn't go up there just to suffer.

You could try bringing him to a different vet for a second opinion if your regular guy is scratching his head. I'm sure the panic of going to the vet isn't as bad as not being able to eat. I'm not at all qualified but it sounds like something is getting stuck in there. It might be something that blood tests wouldn't necessarily pick up.

OK I sometimes do the same thing when my kitties were having health problems - Wanting to do the right thing but feeling really conflicted about what's best and going back and forth. If you are both in luv with the kitty, it helps to bring someone neutral and businesslike who isn't so crazy about him (my mom, for example) to come with you to the vet to give you some perspective and talk things over with. Tough Guy by the Beastie Boys might be good. It's a fast, loud, hyper, shouty rock song (not rap). This is my experience with OpenOffice and people that I've recommended it to: if you save an OpenOffice document as a .doc and then open it in Word, it won't always look exactly the same, especially if you're using alot of fancy formatting like the complicated tables that my resume uses. You can save it as a .pdf using a free converter, but sometimes people get freaked out if you send them anything other than a Word document. From a friend:
Generally, the whomp whomp is made using a trombone (or any brass instrument) with a plunger mute.

the second one is from vaudeville shows from the early 1900s... that was usually done with a marching band.

They were popularized by cartoons such as looney tunes as onomatopoeia for sounds that accentuate embarrassing moments

I would pay for this, maybe like $25 or so. Just because all the pictures I have of me aren't good. Most people don't know how to take pictures. I wouldn't want it too polished, just an ordinary photo of me in my house or something, except by someone who knows how to make someone look good. And I don't think it would be a vanity thing either. Sometimes you just want a decent photo of yourself for posterity.
