Come again?

Overnight LIBOR is dropping, compared to 06-07 rates. It spiked in mid-07, and is now well below the spike and prior baseline. Longer-term LIBORs are doing the same thing.

technically, though, there shouldn't be a conflict of interest here as long as the ex-US Atty stays away from this case and concentrates on other business at the firm (which one would assume they'd be very, very careful about.)

that said, this still strikes me as incredibly sketchy.

Y'know, I've enjoyed some of their topics in the past (bottled water was good for a chuckle), but watching it now, good god, Penn's too acerbic.

The circumcision one in particular strikes me as pretty far wide of the mark -- especially considering that the WHO just recommended circumcision because it significantly reduces the risk of contracting HIV.

Yeah, this isn't a completely new concept. In fact, it's a pretty old one -- think of A Prairie Home Companion, which is an homage to pre-WWII radio. Still plenty of advertising, just no commercial "breaks."

From what I've heard, one of the problems with XDR TB carriers isn't that they are "disorderly", necessarily -- it's that they're uninformed. Part of the time, at least, people start feeling better after a couple months, stop the drug regimen...and then the bacterial troops rally.

It was alluded to in an article in today's NYT, actually, about TB treatment in Bangladesh.

Google actually just set up shop in Ann Arbor (not a large one, but still, a rare bit of good news for MI economic activity.) Don't bank on them moving too much out here, though -- electricity prices aren't great, and datacenters suck juice like you wouldn't believe.

I was at that show, and I thought it was pretty good. a number of my friends would say great. oddly, I was not surrounded by hipsters down on the floor--I was next to two married couples in their 50s and a bunch of yuppies in their early 30s. hell, a friend of mine was there with his much parents and kid sister, up in the balcony.

if you read the court opinion (linked at the bottom of that page)...the decision is somewhat more understandable. the guy's story is spotty at best, and in court, he still wouldn't/couldn't name some of the people to fill gaps. that's sketchy. and a "plausible" story is not the same as a convincing one.

that said: the statute in question requires a preponderance of evidence in order to confiscate these assets, and I really, really don't think they've got it.... [more]
