WELLS FARGO IS EVIL.
Escalate the issue. It'll get passed off to someone else (like me, in my old position at WF), but you should be able to get the hold removed as long as they can verify the funds have cleared the originating bank.

Need a Website Host With Message Board
Ning will allow you to create your own group with discussions and events and such. You could also all sign up with goodreads and run your group through there--they have message boards and reading lists and other goodies geared towards book clubs.

Organizing Flickr Sets?
SmartSetr will automatically sort sets that you've created through that site, but the sets have to be based on tags or text or dates or something, they can't just be manually created.

Help me pimp my new guest house!
designsponge has a pretty awesome LA Design Guide. I don't know if this is too obvious since I'm not very familiar with LA, but on my last trip there, I visited Abbot Kinney Blvd in Venice and the shops there were completely inspirational and drool-worthy.

Cash a check day before pay day?
In most situations, if the recipient goes into your bank and cashes your check, the teller will decline it due to insufficient funds. If the recipient deposits the check to their own account instead of cashing, then their bank will process the check with this evening's work, and your bank will not receive it until tomorrow (assuming you and the recipient use different banks), at which point you will presumably have the funds and be fine.... Accepting Credit Cards On The Go
I use propay to occasionally accept credit cards. I don't know the details of your phone, but if it has web browser, you can process payments online. Otherwise, you can still process a payment over the phone through their toll-free number just fine.

Looking for classy, contemporary fabric and pattern shops online.
For patterns, burdastyle, built by wendy, and fitz patterns are great.
For fabric, purl soho, superbuzzy, contemporary cloth, crybaby's boutique all offer a pretty good selection of unique fabrics. If you're interested in more high-end designer fabrics, some of my recent favorites are Oliveira Textile, rubie green, michael miller fabrics, and Lara Cameron. The textiles section on designsponge and print & pattern are great for following new designers..... [more]

Can't finish anything.
If you don't think it's a result of depression, then I highly recommend the book Refuse to Choose... it can be a little cheesy at times, but reading it was the first time in my life where I felt totally okay about the fact that I have crazy interests all over the place without really following through on any of them.

searching for a small foldout couch/futon
Tiny Living has a cute chair that folds out into a twin bed (and lots of other great furniture for small places). Also, West Elm has a futon lounger that bends on on the other axis, making it under 45" wide (but quite a bit longer).... [more]

merchant account important for a site that might need to feel non-bargain-basement?
When I was looking into this a while ago, one of the 'hybrid' solutions I found was that many of the ecommerce programs (oscommerce, zen cart, etc) have add-ons where you can have the customer enter their credit card information directly on your site, then the info is encrypted and stored for you to manually process the credit card later (using, for example, propay). The percentage that propay charges is a little higher than full merchant services, but the upfront costs are small and there's no... [more]

I've seen some better deals on vayama. You might also want to check kayak which searches all the major travel sites. You can sign up for an alert where they will send you a daily/weekly/whatever email showing the best deals they have found for your particular itinerary.

-Enter your zip code please -Across the street from you
Gas station charges are pretty much the most common type of debit/credit card fraud due to the complete lack of verification. Requesting and verifying the zip code of the card being used is a way of trying to avoid that. If there are any fraudulent charges, the gas station will most likey be the ones taking the loss.

Is anyone else having bank problems?
Seconding bottlebrushtree. I work in the internet group for a large bank, and the broken cable near egypt was definitely causing some issues. A lot of financial institutions have data servers in India, and connections were not so great for a while (or still, i'm not so sure...).

How can I move to Spain for a couple of years?
I'm not sure if you'd be interested, but I lived in France for awhile on an au pair visa... it's a crappy salary, but it will allow you to legally live and work there for a while, and do your own stuff on the side (typically, au pairs works less than 20 hours/week).

why did the check i deposited come back to me?
Were the funds debited from your account (or even ever credited)? If your roommate's bank returned the check (for insufficient funds or a stop payment or something on her end) then there should be stamp from them on the front indicating the reason. Otherwise, it was probably something on your bank's end... having a check made to your nickname instead of your full name can can cause it to be returned, depending on who at the bank was verifying the item and how much they... Mexican Vacation?
I had a great time at Cabanas Copal in Tulum, and it meets all your requirements. February should be the best time to go, weather-wise, but prices are a little more expensive (still pretty cheap compared to anywhere else). You can spend all day lounging on the beach, or go snorkeling in the cenotes or visit ruins or whatever you feel like. The coast is absolutely beautiful, the town itself is authentic (full of tourists, maybe, but non-cheesey), and the food is amazing.
