The End of the News Media?
As a Newspaper Professional my self I suggest you join trade groups like NAA, ING, IFRA, Pennsylvania Newspaper Association and read blogs like metaprinter.com.
Were you at america east in Hershey PA last week? If you were you would have heard the publisher of a small paper THE SHELBY STAR speak about their attempts to stay relevant. They partnered with IFRA and their parent company Scripps to dramitically increase readership.... [more]

my first post incorrectly named E.W. Scripps as the parent of the Shelby Star. Freedom Communications is the parent company. My mistake.

Timing belt in 2003 Hyundai Accent
More accurately, Some states have consumer protection laws that do not allow manufacturers to "require" certain services before X miles.
As an automechanic, I recommend replacing the timing belt, tensioner and idler pulleys every 60K miles. All the parts cost about $70.

Intelligent page turners
Moscow to the End of the Line by Venedikt Erofeev or The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway. They are probably my favorite books of all time.

The three-star edition
I can't speak for the NYT but I know that if you look at the folio on page 2 of the wall street journal, the Star-Ledger, and the Trenton Times, you see a letter code for the press and or printing plant which produced the paper. I live in NJ and my wall street journal always has a "p" on page two telling me it is printed in Princeton (really South Brunswick but i digress). In the Star-Ledger you will find the letters from A to K (yes that's how many presses they have). Wall street... [more]

Turn-signal clicker volume
Unfortunately, there is no volume control for your turn signal. I suggest you visit a car audio joint and mention your problem. They could definitely create either a discrete LED visual signal or a home made audio signal of some kind. Go to a place that does custom work. A Sears Autocenter is NOT where you want to be.
If you see something like This going on in the shop you are in the right spot.
Happy hearing

I don't think they'd be that distracting, honestly.
Rhomboid got it with the hot steamy breath. mmm... The defrost setting on any car not only directs hot air to the windshield(melting ice and snow) but activates the air conditioning to draw moisture out of the air inside the vehicle. Also, the defrost setting is the default position in a car's HVAC system. should anything go wrong, the mode doors should direct air to the windshield. There is NO backup plan when a rear window defroster grid fails. This is a safety issue.... [more]

Any tips for hiking safely among cows (and bulls?)?
I heard that running in a circle is the best thing if charged. cows are not agile. also run across a creek or depression in the ground. cows have terrible eyesight and they will not cross over someting they perceive as a hole in the ground.
I performed archeological surveys on a ranch once and i know what you mean by being "freaked out". they are big animals.

i predict that in 2007 everything that is old will be new again. The new "myspace" will be your bars, clubs, bowling alleys, beaches, mountains, whatever... and so on. any "computer" time will be spent getting faded with you friends playing doubles tennis on nintendo wii.

Escape TO L.A.
I lived in Venice Beach for a long time and here are a couple of my favorites from that area.
I honestly can't remember the name of this place, but it is a hole in the wall Mexican place that has the best chicken mole. It is basic Mexican the way they make it at home. The rest of the stuff on the menu is decent, but the shrimp cocktail and ceviche are delicioso!

Oh, and you as far as 'weird' landmarks, the strangest thing in Venice (other than some of the locals) is the ballerina with the clown head sculpture that stands on Main street, North of Rose.

Where can I buy vinyl online?
god hates math... does god even have a capacity for hate? well i suppose that would be a whole new topic of discussion.
I do agree that buying directly from the band or the label is the way to go. do searches on your favorites. you might be surprised at what you find.

Brake woes.
If your break pedal is dropping and the fluid level is remaining the same then the seals inside the master cylinder around the plunger are leaking. You will not see this leak as the fluid is being redirected back into the reservoir. You need a new master cylinder.
