Mefibrarian meet-up in Anaheim?
Oh my god. I am forever just missing meetups everywhere. However, I CAN TOTALLY MAKE IT TO THIS. I will just have finished the quarter (yay!), and will likely still be in a mental fog ... but I would love to meet some mefites in the flesh. Unless some spontaneous travel hoists itself upon me, count me in!

posting from iPhone: I'm obviously behind schedule (my computer died today. super sad face), and it looks as if I won't make it there until around 9pm. Is that too late?

What a blast Saturday night was! I'm posting from my phone (my comptuer is being diagnosed and hopefully revived by a bunch of Geniuses as I write this), so I can't type out everything that I want to say, but it was fantastic to meet so many of you. I have a few (very few, unfortunately) photos that I plan to post when (IF!!!!) I get my computer back. We should try to do this again! I didn't get to meet or spend enough time with so many of you (though the Mefites I did have the pleasure of... [more]

Apologies for the super long delay (I've had computer problems for the last two weeks, but HURRAH THEY ARE FIXED!), but I very recently uploaded some pics from the meetup here. I had a fantastic time, and it was great to meet so many of you (although I would've liked to spend more time talking with more of you - there were so many mefites, and too little time!). When can we do this again? If it's anywhere in the LA/OC/IE area, I'm totally down.... [more]

Anyone running Bay to Breakers?
Ugh, I always miss Bay to Breakers! Last year my friends brought up the back, and proceeded to gorge themselves on beer and waffles. Beer and waffles!!!! It sounded glorious.
It is on the same weekend every year? When is it next year (so I can put it in my calendar immediately)?

team lowkey: Unfortunately, it has not been implemented - though it's been requested over and over (and over and over and over!) again. But I require perfectionnnnnnnnnn! Actually, I need this for an immediate citation, but also because my current research (and hopefully my thesis!) is couched in the examination of religious/economic intersection, so this will undoubtedly be coming up again.

I find it incredibly disappointing that EB is so disenchanted with MeFi, and yet I (sadly) completely understand it. He was such an asset to the site, to the often contentious discussions about feminism and institutional oppression, and articulated his arguments and ideas with such thoughtfulness (a thoughtfulness towards which I aspire as an academic).
Is he active anywhere else online? I'd really like to participate in some sort of continuing discourse with him.... [more]

cortex, put that old saw away!! Greasemonkey is becoming the bane of my mefi existence. It is referenced and suggested as a panacea for so many site woes, pony requests, etc etc. Suggestions for Greasemonkey + me = :(

To Post or Not to Post
Okay, so you live in Hollywood and have worked with either (a) suicide girls or (b) god's girls. It seems to me that if you have worked for either company in any capacity, you have a conflict of interest on your hands, and probably shouldn't post the FPP. I appreciate your transparency, and I'm sure it would make for interesting reading, but seriously, people might get huffy about your connection to the company.

The Numinati
Imagine my surprise when my pony was resuscitated! I thought that it had either been put out to pasture, of had been put down due to a bum leg. Thanks, cashman!
Jessamyn, I agree with your last stated reason. Not everyone who uses Mefi is able to access the features made available via Greasemonkey. I thnk that distinguishing OP's replies would help everyone on the site recognize when the OP has added additional information that may help to clarify the OP's position,... [more]

HOORAY! I like that screenshot, too, mathowie, but could we make the "poster" highlight a different color altogether? Doing so would grab one's attention more readily, as it wouldn't get lost amidst all the yellow that already exists as links on the page.
Thanks, cashman, for resurrecting my request. I'm ecstatic that I've finally found a way to manipulate technology using nontechnological means. Hooray for the almighty pen!... [more]

This is my answer, but this is not my "best answer."
The issue I have with the various GreaseMonkey scripts is that (a) not everyone uses them, which in turn (b) prevents their full functionality from being realized. I think that implementing this "OP Response" feature would be helpful to all mefites, OPs and answering mefites alike: on one hand, it allows the OP to clarify or append additional, pertinent information to their question, and on the other hand would prevent those responses that overlook the OP's additional information... Yes, I admit to requesting this pony because it would be helpful to me; but I also request it because I think it would be helpful to other posters/mefites. If I, as the original poster,... [more]

Jess, Matt, Cortex, PB: what say you about this? I think that this feature would be really, really helpful. For instance, I just posted this update to my original post, and had no way of differentiating it from the rest of the responses. I tried using a "font color=" tag to distinguish it from the rest of the text, but this was filtered out (har) during Live Preview.
In regard to my specific situation: I don't want to mark my response as "best... [more]

mobile.MeFi.com
This is great, and I really like the ability to play the songs available on MeMu. However, it appears as though I cannot post a comment/response using mobile.mefi. Is this common to all mobile devices accessing the site this way? Will comment-posting be a feature available in the future?
Also, something about this horse having cavities and me being a spoiled and ungrateful child.

I, too, am late to the discussion (balancing full-time university status and work leaves fairly little time to engage in such online debates (though let it be known that very similar discussions are held in classrooms on campuses the world over). It was a container of milk.
There were some fantastic illustrative clips (along the lines of How Crayons are Made) about the wonders of sugar made from sugar beets. There was also one about apple juice (I vividly remember the apples being pushed through a rolling press, and apple juice draining into a vat).
Does anyone know where I might find these clips? I've been looking for them FOR YEARS!

Wow, this post has released a flurry of wonderful memories for me. As with the How Crayons are Made segment that I linked to earlier, I was always partial to those shorts that featured factories and modes of production, or that illustrated some process of How Things Come to Be.
Most of them are accompanied by the music of Joe Raposo...a name I had not known until recently, but who nonetheless served to provide a... [more]

I'll jump on the bandwagon and request some smaller sizing (though don't make them baby-doll shirts. I hate baby-doll shirts!). I wear a women's S/M, so if you could work something out with your printer, that would be fantastic. Also, I'm most frequently on the green, so echoing Mister_A, I'd love to see an AskMefi shirt!
