Ask post: distinguishing between imperfect and preterit
Thank you, this actually makes a lot more sense than it did yesterday.

Ask post: Reasonably-priced jeans for VERY skinny guys?
Urban Outfitters has plenty of jeans that should fit, ranging from cheap all the way to $200 a pair.

Ask post: YOUNG HEARTS BE FREE TONIGHT
junesix,
I think you're probably right about it being paisley. I thought it was a cotton blazer at first, but then the shininess threw me off later. Would a cotton blazer look that shiny under the right light? [OP does not where blazers more than once a year, if that often]

miss lynnster, you just completely validated my choice to wear white chucks and a hand cut shirt instead of spending money. For that, I thank you. I have my share of super tight jeans, so I'll just need to head to a good vintage store and get a neckerchief and a blazer. Oh, and a belt. And some feathered hair.

Ask post: Why would somebody make this bizzare website?
Alright, but can anyone explain the bizarre leap-frog style double-scroll bars?

Ask post: How to unstick a stuck zippo
So WD-40 makes sense, but for boiling water, would it create a problem if water got trapped in the flint tube (technical term)?

Alright, i'll try that now. Thanks a lot!

I had some WD-40 and after soaking the lighter for 10 minutes I got it off with just a little bit of work and then I got rid of all the extra oxidization and now I'm letting it dry. Thanks for the answers, even the potentially lethal ones.

Ask post: What games should my friends & I play instead of Warcraft?
I agree with whoever said Guild Wars. Not only is the lack of monthly fee nice, but they are adding some cool stuff. It's a great game to just hang out in, plus challenging missions and an interesting story. There are 3 episodes now, all with new classes, items and all that fun stuff, and they are coming out with a new expansion that will finally allow you to try things other than humans. And in the not to distant future they will be putting out GW 2.

Ask post: Sound on Mars?
mdonley - It was June 16 when I heard it.

While I wait for that to load, Jofus, I'll try to add more detail. Besides the narration, there was generic song structure with a chorus and all of that, and it was as I remember the length of a normal song. The voice could have been a recording of Orson Wells, but without the actual song I couldn't be sure.

Though the length I imagine can be changed for radio.

Jofus, I am in awe. That is exactly the song I heard, it just started about 5 minutes in. Thank you all, but especially Jofus.

Ask post: IBS help, PLEASE!
I had horrible IBS for many years and it ended instantaneously the day I quit my job and went back to school. I really liked my job (commercial photographer) but apparently I was totally stressed (I also got a divorce at the same time, so perhaps the job wasn't the issue).

Stress is a funny thing. You can be so used to it that you don't even notice it. I had IBS while on vacations, but the day I started grad school I never had it again. No changes in diet, no changes... [more]

Ask post: Equally Yoked
I think it will work out fine as long as you do both respect each others beliefs and will not ever try to convince one another that the other is wrong. If you try to convert eachother, only bad will follow.

Ask post: Prince of Pockets
The most popular high quality jeans to know are going to be Diesel, Lucky, 7 for all Mankind, Paper Denim & Cloth, True Religion, Earnest Sewn, Levis (I assume you can tell those from a mile away), Krew (if you are between the ages of 15-25), and there are a lot of other jeans that are not quite as popular. Some of it depends on where you live, but I think those are pretty universally known. Different styles of those brands will often have different back pockets. A good place to see those... [more]

Ask post: How to play a game off of a CD that has been installed on another computer first.
Thanks frogan, that is exactly what I wanted to know.

I can't believe that I forgot to mention that my friend is actually a major retailer and this game is new and I bought it with money. Money that is mine.... And I was only asking the question for a friend anyways! My friend Johnny.

Ask post: Plane etiquette
If you are in coach, then it can be kinda rude. There is hardly any leg room in the first place, and to then have someone recline into you gives you even less. I not so secretly hate people who recline in front of me.

Ask post: Gang hairstyle
Sorry to enter this so late, but do you by any chance mean a "line?" It's a very short cropped look, almost like a buzz cut, but with a straight line shaved across the forehead. The two best haircuts I could find are of Jay-Z, but I see the look mostly on Latino youths.
Jay-Z 1

Jay-Z 2

You'll notice that that is not his natural hairline and it is just shaved like that.... [more]

Ask post: I remember it was in a deserty place too!
Well I would say it was heavy gear except that according to wikipedia, it was a show in 2002. But that seems to be the kind of thing that I was thinking of. Oh well.

Ask post: My kid knocked out a permanent tooth--now what?
I wouldn't take Idcoytco's approach of having all of your son's friends be merely children you practically paid to hang around him (not to mention they would only be there in the hopes that he gets hurt... I foresee an imminent "accident" coming out of that).

Ask post: The irony-it just burns me! My grill is on fire
The fat is dripping down from the steak and it flames up. You can turn the temperature down (although it still flares up some), or just move the steaks a little further away from the burner so that it doesn't drip over the flame; the steak will still cook, don't worry about moving it a little.

Ask post: Can an open microwave door leak a dangerous amount of radiation?
It's off, so it can't be emitting any of that radiation.

And on a semi-sequitor; if microwaves were giving off deadly lukhemia-causing radiation, would the little plastic door be able to stop it from getting to you?
