How much interest for a family loan?
I was in a similar position - I had borrowed $1200, I gave him 8% interest per year, compounded annually, so I think I wrote the check for $2500 or something.
He didn't cash it.
Which was really sweet. Anyway whatever rate you decide on, just make sure you compound it year to year.

Brown bag search
yeah as I said I tried ebay - that's not quite what I want. I'd prefer it to be a true brown tortoise shell.

Good stretches for an inflexible fellow?
Be careful when foam rolling that you're not rolling your hip joint right over it - you should roll up to that point
Also make sure you are rolling where your IT band attaches to your knee
make sure you are stretching your hamstrings and glutes as well, it's all a chain and it's all interconnected.

It's fricassee, it must be Tuesday
I don't so much repurpose already cooked things but if I'm buying special herbs or ingredients, I shop around for recipes that will help me use them up. So for example, I made an olive oil based potato salad with fresh herbs for a potluck BBQ at the weekend. So I made chicken salad last night which allowed me to use the chives and parsley and things I bought for the salad.
Or if I have an open can of chicken broth etc, I pour what's left into ice cube trays and then I... [more]

Oh! One more question, I would like to swim longer but my goggles really start giving me headaches an hour in.
Any tips for that? If I loosen the straps, they leak.

ur I meant LYME disease. Of course, joint pain and cramps are only part of it, you'd probably have to have a lot more of the symptoms to merit concern

Inauguration Day as a tourist - worth it?
Really, you might see the small dot that would be the president's head if you were to go down to the capitol to try to hear his or her inaugural address. But, you might have an easier time navigating the city in January than say in April at the height of cherry blossoms. I say, why not.

No the invitation doesn't say. I can't miss it b/c these are good friends and we will have many mutual friends in attendance.
I think I will just have to stay sober and hit the road after all the traditional cake dance etc is done.

on pins and needles
Ack this is sometimes a problem... there are some yarn stores on the hill and one in georgetown, not sure if they sell needlepoint stuff.
If you're up for a schlep, there's a place called the Needlewoman East in Virginia -

You take the metro to West Falls Church and then take a bus to the corner of Broad and Spring Street,. They have a lot of nice specialty fibers but I really think you might want to consider shopping online.

G street fabrics is not on K street anymore. There is a store called Exquisite Fabrics near Farragut North but they don't sell any needlepoint stuff. There's a G Street fabrics near the White Flint metro stop but I don't remember if they sell any needlepoint stuff. You could call them.

Cross-stitching and thick material?
I really think you don't want to try to use waste canvas on that bag you will make yourself crazy. How about you make a small luggage tag?? I would finish it similar to these pinkeep instructions
http://focusonfinishing.wordpress.com/2007/08/17/pinkeep-class/
You could then sew the thing onto the bag, or simply glue a ribbon into it and attach it to the bag luggage tag style.
It might get trashed if this bag is going to... [more]

OK, but I would use a thicker style material than aida or linen if you did so, as they might tear.

How deep a hole is this?
I had the same problem - a loan went into repayment and I didn't pay attention to the bills. when i finally got around to convincing them the loan should have been in deferment it was too late - they said I was at fault regardless and the delinquencies stayed on my credit report for seven years.

I should clarify the loan went into repayment while I was still a full time student - demonstrably their fault, and I still couldn't prevent the negative credit reporting.

Clear Skin or Bust!
To answer your question, I took three courses of accutane (with blazing side effects) and in every instance the acne came back a year later.
I still have acne today but I can't deal with the side effects so I'm sticking with spironolactone (it's got something to do with hormones and is helpful)

South Beach Phase 1, help me eat better?
Some genius tips from a friend.
Stuffed eggplant is a great dinner - I slice in half, hollow it out a bit (within 1/2 inch of edge), par roast at 375 for about 15 minutes, then fill with ricotta mixed with an egg yolk and parm cheese, a tomato-meat sauce made with ground turkey, and top with a bit of low fat mozz cheese. Bake for 35-45 minutes - yum. You can just eat the whole thing - skin and all.
So good luck - during the week's easy, the... [more]
