I've read
this,
this,
this and a bunch of other sites. I've got a Mac Pro and a Powerbook I'd like to share home directories over, but I'd rather not purchase OS X Server or get a small machine up and running Linux to deal with authentication (LDAP). Anyone authenticate locally, but still use the portable home directories?
Alternatively, anyone just unison their entire /user/ directory?
Thanks!

I've currently got a HP Mini-Note 2133 running Ubuntu. I was going to take a stab at installing OS X on it this coming weekend when I realized I could get a 12" iBook or PowerBook G4 for roughly the same price and it would still be small enough I wouldn't mind carrying it around with me all the time and it would run OS X with no hassle. I'd keep my MacPro as my primary workstation that I use for image editing and such, this would just be for email and for surfing the web on the go. If I get a G4 era laptop and install Leopard on it (want to use Back to My Mac after I roll my own dot mac) will I have any issues? I've only recently become a Mac user after years on Linux, so I never used a PPC-based system. Will application like Camino, Mail, Adium, etc all run with no problems? This is what the universal binary thing is all about, right?
Anything else I should be aware of? Any tips or tricks for slimming down 10.5 to make it run better on the older hardware?
Thanks!

I love
Chili's salsa, it isn't full of chunks of veggies like the salsas I've tried in the store (and I think I've tried them all). Last night I went to
On The Border and found out I liked their salsa even better. A similar consistency, but spicier and with some cilantro.
What kind of salsa am I looking for (ordering online is fine, or brick and mortar in metro NY) that is most similar to these two?

iPhone replacement sought. Got an iPhone, not too crazy about it and don't really want to pay $20 a month for a data plan I hardly use. Which phone should I get to replace it?

Looking for a central Long Island (Nassau County) drop off/pick up laudromat. Not looking exactly for cheap (though that's nice) but value. Tired of wasting hours waiting for machines to finish.

I need to fabricate some stuff out of PVC sheets. It seems the cheapest way to get the materials I need is to order a few 8" or 12" wide replacement PVC strips that are used in the PVC strip doors since I don't need anything very large. I'll probably end up with PVC that is an eighth of an inch thick. However, I'm not sure if cutting it with a razor is the best course of action. Can anyone here advise if there are specific PVC tools for cutting as well as for creating holes? Would just a razor and punch/mallet do? Anything I should be careful of? Any tips or tricks?
Thanks!
