Hey, don't beat yourself up for waiting until you're 26. It happens when people feel like they're ready and sometimes that's 15, sometimes 26, sometimes 62. I think it's awesome at any age.

Also, just reinforcing the point that people can change. I had a friend who came out to her parents when she was 15 and her parents literally called her epithets to her face. 15 years later they love and embrace her and her partner. Can happen. Good luck.

When I read it, I thought, "get over yourself, kid" and had a laugh at a self-important child. For a while I was in disbelief that someone could get so personal and rude over differences of opinion that the would go to the trouble to MeMail me something insulting. I think the questions are fine and generate useful suggestions and ideas. The way I tend to read it is that languagehat's etymology contributions are generally useful and even when he has 'tude, like saying it's all a freshman bull session, he makes some legit points about how complicated it is to answer these questions definitively and that viewpoint is worth having. I just got a new windshield and a local club put a postcard on it to promote Girls Gone Wild doing a taping there. It rained all night and the next morning it was stuck fast to my windshield. Even after using Goo Gone to peel it off, the imprint of the ad is stuck to the glass. So, now I have to drive around looking out a brand new $200 windshield with a permanent advertisement for Girls Gone Wild. FUCKING BULLSHIT LOCAL CLUB!
