MeTa post: Insert Headline/Title Here
I've just discovered a way around the draconian impositions on this workplace station and now can citrix (ssh?) my way onto the Internet. If I set my preferences to plain theme here will they remain that way on this terminal or will I have to re-set that every time? I have to log in every time I access MeFi from this computer if that's any help. (Makes me think the answer to that question is 'no' though.) Also, changing prefs for the layout here at work won't change anything on my home computer,... [more]

phaedon: Yeah, I think it will.

I remain dubious, but will consider this—if it's true—an excellent legitimization of this sock.

MeTa post: Metafilter is really, really fucking good lately
High praise from someone who just last year claimed he came for the discussion and never clicked the links.

There's nothing new on the internet, and "The Blue" is all rehash these days. I only come here for the discussion anymore and, frankly, that's been shit lately here in MeTa and in "The Blue"—no small thanks to attention-whore drama queens like dios, cortex, jonson, mathowie, dame, ThePinkSuperhero, languagehat, ColdChef, and loquacious.... Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!

I just realized two things.
1. I actually yelled that out loud just now, about shutting up.
2. That list of names was typed from memory, and I'm pretty sure all of the case and spelling is spot on.
3. I blame you gabby princesses for these revelations and happenings. MetaFilter's really gonna miss me when I don't come back after the next six or seven insult comments. I hate all you blowhard fucktards, and... [more]

Now flame out, you bastard, before we have to bring out the chainsaw and do it for you.

Your self-serving wisecracks are a thorn in my side.

MeTa post: Better way to link
I've noticed of late that more comments have a link to a website written out, but not linked to ... This is probably because of some users' unfamiliarity with html.

AFAICT, the way MeFi's link button works is a fairly common functionality on web-based email and even word processing programs these days. People munge links cuz they're lazy and dumb.
