Ask post: Help us dance at our wedding!
Thanks everyone for your answers. Everything you said helped by at least reducing my anxiousness. (I hadn't been able to answer before, you know how it can get, 10 days before the wedding!)

Ask post: ...To sex or sleep, that is the question...
Well, I hope my fiancé doesn't take thomas144's advice.

I don't think I'll have any energy for sex before at least 10 hours of sleep. And we've been abstinent. I don't care. I figure, if we've waited for months, what's another 10 hours?

The plan for the wedding is get up friday, early, have a whole day of wedding stuff, get married at night, have the reception, leave the reception at 4am to go shower and change, leave for the airport, and spend... [more]

Ask post: Ganglion cyst surgery
Thanks whiskey point for the suggestion, but if there's anything google has tried to get me to do, is to smash my wrist with something. Thanks but no thanks. In any way, I'm trying to find out if surgery is still needed even when there's no bump left...
posted to Ask Metafilter by CrazyLemonade at 3:38 PM on March 26, 2008
Thanks everyone for your answers. I finally got to speak to the doctor, on the phone, and he told me to cancel the surgery and to check back with him in a month.

If anyone cares: I came to the conclusion today that apart from the relaxing vacations (I mostly get the cyst during times of stress and lots of work), I did a LOT of shopping one day and the carrying of heavy bags seem to have helped with the going down of the bump. I guess the carrying of heavy things works both ways...

Ask post: How can I tranfer my contacts from one Sony Ericsson phone to another?
Is there a way to do this without Outlook? (I don't use it)
posted to Ask Metafilter by CrazyLemonade at 11:44 AM on March 8, 2008
Thanks for all your answers.

I don't really know what I'm doing, and how, but I managed to get all my contacts from the old phone downloaded into MyPhoneExplorer, and from there into Outlook.

Now I'm trying to connect the new phone, but it doesn't want to. If I try to connect it to MyPhoneExplorer, it tells me: "Could not open COM6!" and if I try to connect it to the Sony Ericsson PC Suite, it keeps telling me that... [more]

Ask post: How can I make it up to my pal?
I don't understand a lot of the people here who are calling your friend an asshole or a drama queen or whichever other adjective. I think it's very reasonable to expect a less than positive reaction from a friend, when you've told him you've been lying to him for years. Ok, yes, maybe he's overreacting by saying that "he is accountable in part for the actions of those he associates with", but what does he even mean by that?

I can remember... [more]

Ask post: Travel from Mexico City Airport to Toluca Airport
I just checked. There are 7 flights on Interjet.com.mx going from Cancun to Toluca on Jan 5. Only ONE still has available seats and it leaves Cancun at 00.25hrs, getting to Toluca at 02.45hrs. I'm not sure if that would mean a LOT of time doing nothing at the Toluca Airport, but it'd save the money of taking a taxi from Mexico City to Toluca.

Volaris.com.mx does show more flights available, but mostly in the afternoon.

Ask post: If they say "Don't tell Dad!", do you?
I think your stepdaughter sees you as the right amount of "friend", "adult" and "parent", which means you are a bit of everything but no 100% of any. Like thinkingwoman says, you must be doing something right if she's confiding in you, so don't do anything that will break that trust she has in you. (Of course, as long as it doesn't put her life/integrity in danger.)

Ask post: Any advice for a couple traveling to Baja Mexico?
I don't really know of this helps, but I'm Mexican [and have lived here all my life] and I have NO idea of where this place is. Never even heard of it.

What state is "Todos Santos" in?
posted to Ask Metafilter by CrazyLemonade at 11:03 PM on December 17, 2007
Ups, I'd skipped over the title. Now I see you mention "Baja".

Like I said, I've never heard of this place before, but from my own experience in a lot of Mexican towns and "pueblos", there's never enough to do for a whole week. You'll probably get bored before that. Maybe you can combine half a week in Todos Santos with half a week in Cabo San Lucas. Both places look close enough for a short road trip.

Ask post: Do you use a washcloth?
I use one in the shower but only for my face. And I just call it a towel. For the rest of my body I use my bare hands or a bath poof around once a week. I picked this habit (the washcloth) up myself, since no one in my family, that I know of, uses one.

I'm in Mexico.

Ask post: I don't want to make New Year's Resolutions. I want to actually get stuff done!
What I’m looking for, in short, is a way to plan for the year rather than a list of resolutions.

Then that's the answer to your own question, I'd say. You need a New Year's Plan for 2008, instead of a resolution. Yes, sometimes New Year's resolutions end up being empty gestures because they mostly sound like "good intentions", instead of actions that are in a person's possibilities.... [more]

Ask post: Is an oceanview room in Maui worth the extra money?
Thanks to everyone for your good answers. As they're all opinions and/or suggestions, there's no "best answer", but I've taken everything into consideration.

For now we've decided to stick to the Garden View option, since as Ambrosia Voyeur said in the first answer "just how much staring out the window are [we] planning to do?". Plus, we *will* have a room with a balcony on the Alaska cruise, so there'll be lots of "looking at the ocean"... [more]

Ask post: Gifts for new parents
My little niece has loved this "ExerSaucer" since she was around 6 or 7 months old. My sister loves it too, since she can put the baby there for a few minutes and she'll be entertained and safe (and off her hands for a while).

It's a great gift too, my mom has given it to a few of my cousins who've had babies in the past year.

Wow, I hadn't been able to get online until right now, and I'm happy to see a lot of good answers. I'll have to read them carefully again in a few days, when I go talk to some travel agent.

Like I'd said, I wasn't really sure about what I was asking, but basically I guess I wanted to know if Alaska was really worth the trip (I'm from Mexico) and if the cruise wasn't going to be full of retired couples and such. I do love the fact that the cruises either begin or end in... [more]

Ask post: Will you marry me (even if I don't spend 2 months of my salary on a ring)?
I think the idea of an expensive diamond engagement ring is... absurd. .....Using the money for a down payment on a house or investing it for retirement seems so obviously more sensible that I'm wondering why everybody but the rich doesn't do it.

If you already think it's an absurd concept, then check with your SO and see if you both agree. But still, a lot of things that we do are absurd. A lot of the things that we do for fun or pleasure are absurd,... [more]

It's a class in career orientation, so I don't think it's a good topic for this model class, specially since I'm not that prepared yet on this topic and I don't want to mess up in front of people who teach it. I'd rather talk to them about something not directly related to the classes they teach.

Chespirito is certainly one of the most popular old shows out there, and La Carabina de Ambrosio is also good, but I'd like to maybe suggest some other options, in case you want some more:

Chispita , cheesy soap opera with a very popular theme song sung by the original Timbiriche band, which is currently on a reunion tour.

Ask post: shortcut for apa formatting
Yeah, there's a reason. The paper's due date is on sunday, by email. I just thought of this question today, and most tutors never answer emails during the weekend. I tried calling her but she didn't answer, so I took that as a sign that she was already out of the office.

This is the report of an activity for an online masters in Education course. We had to design an activity using constructivist theories, and we had to explain which theories were used, and where. So most of the theories come from the textbook (Piaget, Vygotsky etc), but others (Gardner's Multiple Intelligences) were not.

Like I said, we could probably get away with this, seeing how not many of my classmates are very good at using APA formatting, and the professors and... [more]

Idcoytco, I really just want to call you out for jumping to conclusions so quickly about the "dubious quality" of my course, but I don't really think this is the place to justify my studies to you.

Read some of the original literature for the education of your own mind, and then cite that rather than the text book.

Villas Akumal looks really awesome. I was going to go there with my family last july, on recommendation from my sister's pediatrician who's been there with his family. (Our own vacation fell through at the end.)

The villas are probably not big enough for 13, but you could probably get two of them side to side.

I don't think waxing is a good idea, since you have to wait for the hair to grow enough. And I'm guessing anonymous doesn't want 1/8 inch hairs on her chin.

I suggest laser. I would think it wouldn't be so expensive on an area so small as the chin. (I'm getting it done on my legs, underarms and bikini area...and so far no complaints.)

Depending on the context, it's either:

Su excelente inglés es conveniente para todos a su alrededor.

edmz, "tu" only has an accent when it means "you", and not when it means "your".

"Su", on the other hand, never has an accent.

By the way, the way you phrased the sentence adds a little more sense to it.
