Ask post: Is backordering domain names a racket?
Godaddy is not the best place to back order a domain from.

If you were really serious about getting the domain you must use a proper company that specialises in the backordering of domains.

read this great article on the subject.

Ask post: A company want to speak to my accountant for a reference before they give me a job
I do not think they will be asking generalised questions about what kind of person i am.

because if my accountant was hired on a professional basis, he would be unable to answer such questions or unwilling to make such statements.

I think what they want is actual proof that I was actual self employed and not just an unemployed bum.

I'm guessing tax returns or something (the problem being my LTD being formed in 2007 has... [more]

Ask post: I'm making a list of Cognate words within the Indo-European/Romance Languages looking for sources
yes im looking for all words that could be loosely described as cognative, its just really to help in terms of conversational usage of the languages.

Im mainly just looking at English/French/Italian/Spanish/Portuguese

because of the large number of cognates within the group, if other languages hold a large number of cognates let me know.

yup sound the same and mean the same is what im looking for.

Ask post: How safe is torrent now?
getting true stats on this issue is all but impossible.. you ask the music companies they'll tell you billions are using p2p.. the same is true if you ask ISPs.. if you take the figures they give.. and cut them in half.

Then divide that number by the actual number of prosecutions. Then youre hell of alot safer downloading p2p than you are walking down the street.

and that is a fact.!

Ask post: How to deyankify a resume?
legally UK CVs can not have any age data on them, this includes even the date you got qualifications and degrees.

We also don't put our previous employment salaries.

We only have a brief one personal summary at the top of our CV instead of a whole cover page.

I work for an HR company

Endsofinvention wrote "Wha? So I'm breaking the law if I put my DOB on there?"

No not you personally.. but if you gave your CV to an recruitment company who then started to give that CV to clients they would liable to litigation and the companies who looked at the CV.. so they won't accept them unless the date is removed.

Ask post: Futbol vs Football
Rugby football was banned in amercia for being too dangerous (the pansies)

This is why they invented amercian rules football, which is basicly the exact opposite rules of rugby

eg:
you throw the ball forward instead of backwards

You have a line of scrimage not a scumage.

You Must wear padding vs You Mustn't wear padding

but they kept the name

Ask post: How to make my router work with new settings ASUS AM604g
well if what your saying is true.. it would explain all my problems.

However clearly the router the ISP provides manages to do it.. so it possible.

and the ASUS router is very good, with lots of changeable settings.. so it should be possible to make it do the same.
posted to Ask Metafilter by complience at 4:45 AM on April 25, 2007
ah the settings are hard to get out of the isps router.. i think its a closed box.

The problem is this ISP is the greatest ISP in the whole of the UK, its like 10x faster 10x cheaper, and truely unlimited. So theres no option of going anywhere else.

Its not for a story... apart from the crazy story of events that seems to be my life.
