MeFi post: Abortion as Art
That is downright shocking. I think it's despicable and that she ought not do it, but it's her body, and no one else's.

Ask post: How To Learn Psychology
Look up some reputable self help books written by psychologists and see if they've ever published anything academic. Are you looking for emotional psychology? Or more organic causes of psychological differences?

Ask post: Do I tell my engaged friend that I love her?
Normally I'd say, "No way. You need to move on, maybe get some counseling (if you're as emotionally broken up as you say), but try to find a way to let her go." But you say you've known her for 10 years? Maybe you should say something...

You say she lives in a different city. How far away?
How often did you actually see her in person?
You mentioned telling her a little bit about your feelings. How did she react? If... [more]

I should also add, that before you do "go for it," really take some time and talk to someone, and try to find out if you REALLY are in love with this person, or if your just having a visceral reaction to her being with someone else. Be an adult about this.

MeFi post: I May Be Big and Scary (But I'm Really Pretty Nice)
This kid is unreal. If all baby get into hip-hop, we will be overtaken by a siege of agile hip-hop ninjas.

MeFi post: Easy money
The worst thing about the widening gap of the class divide is that the higher you get, the smaller the problems of the people below you seem.

Ask post: How can I create a social networking site?
Let me just reiterate that I am NOT TECH SAVVY!!! Please don't just tell me, "Ning will work" or "Drupal is the way to go." I'll need a slightly more explicit answer. If there is a high caliber open source software that I can use, please tell me who I need to see to put it all together, etc.

Sorry, I accidentally checked this question of mine form my sister's computer, and posted a comment, from me, in her name (numinous). Here it is again, in response to adamrice

"I am researching this topic for someone who does have a budget and tech savvy people at his disposal, but not the expertise in social networking sites. So when I say point me to someone who can help me, I mean so that they can help me with software solutions, not funding solutions. I have a... [more]

Ask post: Where can I buy irradiated milk in "these United States"?
OMG! Alpura is EXACTLY what I used to drink!!! Thank you so much, Dr. Curare!

One quick thing, though. Where can I order it? The link you gave me doesn't offer any option to order it.

I live in the Inland Empire, in Southern California, and I go to Orange County often.

And thanks to everyone else that told me about Parmalat.

MeTa post: korean doctors = robbers?
Hey there. I'm the guy that posted the question that set off this whole thread. I am REALLY sorry if I offended anyone. Looking back, leading off my post with "Will the Korean doctor rob me blind" was a very poor choice of words. My bad.

I honestly didn't mean to imply that Koreans are inherently nefarious or untrustworthy (and to Mr. or Ms. Eyeballkicks, I WOULD have asked "Will the Australian doctor rob me blind." Don't presume to know what I... [more]

I think it would be a shame if you internalized this in any way that suggests you contribute to serious racism issues in our culture. They do exist, but to give you a public reprimand over things like this is pretty ridiculous.

Thank you everyone that came to my defense. I did not use any explicit racist language in my post, and thankfully the context of my question made my intentions clear, but don't be too hard on randomstriker or eyeballkicks. I... [more]

Ask post: How can I protect myself in international business deals?
Thanks, Paleoindian. I understand the GET a lawyer thing everyone is saying, and I definitely wouldn't proceed without one, but reasuring me that America and South Korea anjoy good foreign intellectual property relations and giving me the name of a law firm is very helpful.

Ask post: I want to be the "great addition to the team" they think they're getting.
My greatest success in the workplace has always been when I (a) asked what sided/experimental project the management would like to see done, but doesn't have the time to asign, and (b) thinking of what sided project that I would like to see done, do them, and then propose them to my boss. If they seem interested, you bring them your work in one or two days (before they've forgotten about it) and really blow thir sock off.

I did this when I worked... [more]

Ask post: Looking for immersion journalism books
Rachel and Her Children, by Jonathan Kozol, is a great book that deals with homelessness in American and the flawed structure of government assistance. The auther personally sought out hundreds of homeless and immersed himself in the culture.

Ask post: Things to do in NYC with a bad knee?
This Friday night you can go to You can go to the Zebulon Cafe and see the jazz musicians playing there. It's a wonderful place. My cousin will be playing drums, and if you tell him between sets that I sent you there, he will probably join you and your mother for a drink and give you all types of recommendations on how to spend your time. His name is Adam Coopersmith and he loves meeting new people.

Zebulon is located on 258 Wythe ave..... between N. 3rd and... [more]

Ask post: Do any plants compete successfully with poison ivy?
Here's is an effective, if not labor intensive, chemical free method for eliminating poison ivy:

STEP 1) Make sure the soil is wet:
Either wait for a rainy day or soak the area with a hose for A LONG TIME (pulling when the dirt is dry leave far more pieces of root behind).

STEP 2) Pull the poison ivy:
Put on some hefty gloves (you may want to throw them away afterwards to dispose of the oil residue left... [more]

Ask post: Help me find the sandals worn in The Big Lebowski
I had a pair very similar to them, but not exact, and not cheap. They were Cole Haan sandals, and i found them at a bargain price of $75, so they will probably be even pricier for you. I hope this was helpful.
