AMD vs Intel
The AMD doesn't list the video card in it, but I wouldn't buy the Intel with the nVidia 8400, until this has been investigated further.

reign or rein
Well,
Reign is referential to a king or monarchy, as the word is a derivitive of the Latin word 'rég' meaning king.
Rein alludes to reins such as on a horse, coming from the Latin word 'retinére' meaning to hold back or retain.
So I would assume both work, it just depends on what connotations you want it to have.

Why won't my computer talk to my monitor?
2nding everything wfrgms said, as well as what mutagen said.
To test if it's the backlight going bad, just turn it on, let it go dark, then look at the monitor very closely and carefully, from different angles, and try shining a light on it. If you can very faintly still see what is supposed to be displayed then it is definitely the backlight.

Noiseless gaming tips
I have the black Elite one, and it's fan is always noticable during gameplay. Like Box said, gaming PC loud. From what I understand, they're all loud, but older ones had even louder DVD drives.
But I'm used to the noise of gaming PC's, so with games at normal volume it doesnt really bother me. YMMV.

My car is an attention whore.
Are you a really attractive woman?
Is it mostly guys trying to talk to you?
Why would anyone want to talk to a stranger about their car, unless it was like some expensive, rare sportscar or something.

Facts do not respect majority opinion.
Is the English language not constantly evolving?
Did they not add D'oh to the dictionary?
If a bunch of people pronounce a word incorrectly and still all understand it and each other, does that not make it its' new pronunciation?
As I do with many questions on the topic of language, I appreciated the many answers, both the well informed and the not, if only for allowing me to see how English is changing.

When I was little I would eat mustard spread thinly on toasted wheat bread with a glass of NutriSweet water (just a packet straight into a glasss of cold tapwater) on the side.

logic board replacement success
2nding everything David says.
Especially about the spudger, maybe even get 2-3 if you can find them for less than a couple bucks, because the pointy tip can kind of wear out as you use it.
Definitely always use the exact right type of screwdriver, because nothing is worse than a stripped screw in something as delicate as a laptop.
PowerPC Apples are some of the easiest laptops to take apart, be patient and everything will go fine.
Good Luck!

It All Went Downhill Once Luke Brower Moved In
I think of myself as young, trendy and stylish and I would recommend:
Seven for All Mankind (Sevens)
Citizens of Humanity (Citizens)
Diesel
True Religion
Go to your nearest Nordstrom or Bloomingdales or w/e high end department store and have a sales person bring you a bunch of different styles. They're silly expensive, but designer jeans are a luxury I think is worth it when you find perfect ones that make you feel good... [more]

Russian Roulette Odds
Slight derail but,
I remember reading somewhere, perhaps in a novel, so this info may be dubious, if your 6-gun is well maintained (clean and well oiled), and there is just 1 bullet in 1 of the 6 chambers, your chances of being shot are much less than 1 in 6, because the weight of the bullet tends to force it to end up low, away from the barrel and out of firing position.
So if you're given choice, respin!

Upgrade to XP Pro or buy more ram?
Yeah, I haven't switched from XP to Vista yet for the same reasons everyone else dislikes it/is switching back. So do your 'upgrade' :-) Make sure you have XP fully up to date and have anti-virus software (I recommend Kaspersky for paid or AVG free for free). Especially if you have kids who might click silly stuff on hi-speed internet.
Also running anti-spyware programs (Ad-aware, Spybot S&D) once in a while is never a bad idea.

Best online resources for DIY computer building?
Apple 23'' cinema display = $900 = Total Budget
My point being, that if the primary function of this computer is for TV and movie watching, you're going to want at least a decent quality display, which, while much much cheaper than they used to be, still aren't cheap.
The very cheapest 24'' inchers on newegg and tigerdirect appear to be $310 and $350, respectively. So best case scenario your budget for the rest of the computer is $490-$590.
That's going to... [more]

You down with HDTV?
Hey, if burn-in was a problem on your last tv I would avoid getting a plasma, because they are the most susceptible, although some of the higher end plasmas are supposed to have technology that reduces the severity.
Also, if you plan to play video games on you new tv, again, I'd recommend against plasma. Every plasma I've played on has a serious lag making many games difficult, and then theres also the chance of the burn from logos or status/health bars.

looking for cheap but good laptop
$600 is just on the edge of buying a laptop that will be fast enough to last a while.
In my opinion, the line that seperates the budget, this-is-my-first-computer laptops from nice machines that are in the sweet spot for technology-to-price are $800-$1000.
With it being shopping season, put in some time looking around and you can probably find some sweet deals out there.

When is the typical Thanksgiving day feast eaten?
Grew up on West coast, and we've always eaten between 6-8pm, depending on when the everything was ready. Always struck me as an old-fasioned, East coast thing to do to eat any earlier.

should i buy this black friday computer from wal-mart?
It would browse the internet and watch dvds alright, but Vista will be very slow with only 1 gig of memory, the processor in it is from AMDs entry level (read: lowest-end) Sempron line, and the graphics card is one of the lowest end integrated ones from 2 generations ago (its an nVidia 6000 series, they've since moved on past the 7000s, and are now on the 8000 series), meaning half-life 2, let alone a newer game, would be near unplayable.
The only good thing going for this... [more]

A very puzzling event. Opinions solicited.
I was a teenager not so long ago, so I think like one.
Maybe your son told one of his friends/girlfriend that he was going out of town, and then the friend, either invited or not, threw a party/had people over in your house. Probably tuesday or wednesday night. (It is summer, bored teenagers get into trouble every night of the week). Then someone broke the fishtank. That would explain the moved chair, the broom (to clean up afterwards), and the towel (sopping up the water).... [more]

Windows clueless: Your PC tips and tricks please!?
Opera for web browsing. It's like Firefox, only you don't need to install any plug-ins, doesn't leak memory and it's highly customizable.
For video playback I would recommend the K-Lite Mega Codec pack. It's not perfect (a little complicated, sometimes redundant), but it will play anything.
Your PC will require a little more TLC than your Mac, in the form of occasional disk clean-ups and defrags, as well as regular malware scans (I recommend... [more]

I know nothing about NY, but..
I think maybe what you're looking for is a good hookah bar.
Smoking gives you an activity to bond over (if you both do), they generally have really comfy couches, they play music, but not so loud that you can't talk, and the lighting/seating arrangement can provide privacy.
