Ask post: Help my poor cholrine-damaged hair!
restless_nomad, yes, chlorinated water. Can't believe I forgot to mention that obvious detail in the original post.

Anyone who's used ultraswim - is it sufficient without the conditioner, or should I spring for the conditioner as well? Shame they don't make a shampoo + conditioner for the lazy :).

I don't much care about the smell, it's the weird cracky/greasy feeling that drives me nuts, so as long as I can find something to alleviate that, I'm cool skipping the swim cap. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I do definitely wet my hair down before and immediately after swimming, but they put an absolutely ridiculous amount of chlorine in the pool at my gym, so it's like trying to stop an avalanche with a volleyball net. It hadn't really occurred to me to put moisturizer or conditioner in before I swim because I figured all it would do is immediately wash off and make the pool gross (per dame's comment).

It's actually less that I don't like caps (although I do hate the way it... [more]

Ask post: What's the best way to ensure safety when selling a physically large item via Craigslist?
notsnot - The problem comes if they want to turn it on to make sure it works.

jacquilynne - I live in an apartment, so unfortunately that's not an option. Would be great if I had a house, though.

No husband (although I do have a couple of large intimidating friends I could bribe with beer), and the only real common space in my building is the pool, and even if it had electrical outlets, I don't think I'd want to set anything up there for safety reasons.

Nope, no lobby. It's one of those SoCal all-outdoor complexes that looks kind of like a motel. Hell, for all I know, it used to be a motel. Like I said, the only common area is by the pool, so that won't work.

Any suggestions for a workable 3rd party site?

Heh, I suspect they'd require a percentage in that case. Anyway, thanks for the suggestions, sounds like some variation of the large, intimidating friends is the way to go. Thank you!

Ask post: How do I get rid of my local iDisk after dropping .Mac?
Thank you, that did it. I thought I'd tried that before but it looks like I'd only removed the password and not the account name as well, and it'll only let you get rid of the iDisk if you remove both.

Ask post: How do I strengthen my arms to prepare for a stint on crutches?
The problem with anything involving wheels arises with my apartment: I live on the second floor of a building with no elevator, so I need something that will let me get up and down the stairs with (relative) ease. I've had suggestions to just move out of the apartment while I'm on the crutches but even before having to pay my share of the surgery, that's not a financially viable suggestion.

Given that, I think the forearm crutches are a good suggestion, I'll talk to my... [more]

Wow, that iWalkFree thing looks awesome. My only concern is its load limit, but hell, I've gotta look into that, it looks like it'd be a LOT easier than crutches.

4-6 weeks was the length of time I was given as "non weight-bearing", which for all intents and purposes means crutches or some other method of putting zero weight on the ankle.
