If you like reverb and delay, then this song's for you. I don't really know how to describe this one. It was done for this month's challenge, so it was hasty and under-thought and turned out better than I expected.

Is this Metal? Inspired by
this MeFi post about Metal and
this MeFi post about Metal as a catalyst for world peace, I set out to write and record this instrumental over the weekend. Rough edges are OK in Metal, right? You should probably turn this up as loud as it will go.

Instrumental sort-of-dance track with some electric piano, samples, beats, and synths.

A little song on ukulele and a few other instruments. This was recorded last night in one take per track, improvised around a basic chord structure.

A dark electronic instrumental experiment brought to you by the numbers 808 and 909.
Not genuinely scary, but maybe fit for the "something for a Halloween party" portion of this month's challenge, assuming it's a dance party.

Instrumental demo written/recorded as first-takes after reading
this post about the recording of The Cure's
Disintegration album. Consider it a comment for the
Disintegration post. And please excuse the mix, as it was hastily done.
In keeping with the
Disintegration theme, it begins with 8 seconds of silence.

I'm actually not sure it's technically possible for a robot to also be a zombie.

When we're making a dance track with a solid four-on-the-floor beat, where can we go from there? Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do? Put it up to five. Exactly. These go to five.

I think if there was a true heir of delta blues in 1960s and '70s rock and roll, it was more likely Lou Reed than just about anyone else.
A lot of delta blues, a little Motown, and a little modern Detroit.

Disclaimer: This started as a semi-serious effort, but quickly turned ridiculous. That's not how I normally play guitar, by the way. Even as a teenager in the 80s I didn't play like that, except in jest.

Two chords: Em and G.
But don't worry. You're not part of the Zombie Bot Army. Because Frog and Toad are. And they're staying up all night drinking and having snacks at a bar with PB.

I don't even know what genre this would be considered. This started as three guitar tracks recorded for a very upbeat techno/house track with a beautiful female vocal. When it ultimately was not used for that song, I took the three guitars and built this slow groove thing around them.

A friend and I had this grand plan to do a side project that would be like latin-inspired retro future lounge music from space. So far it has not really become a thing. This was the first demo for the project. It's a bit sloppy and isn't even half "done," but I like listening to it and I suspect that at least this particular recording will never actually be "finished." So here it is in all of its glory.

Another song from my 2-man band's day-and-a-half album project. This one is ultra mellow, but it does evolve as it moves along. The "percussion" consists of random ambient room noises, footsteps, static, and the like.

One song from a six-song EP written, recorded, mixed, and mastered in one-and-a-half days with my new 2-person "band."

A synth experiment mostly. I got a new plug-in and wanted to try it out.

Sometime after midnight a few years ago, while waiting for a friend to finish writing lyrics to another song we were recording, I got bored and improvised this little two-guitar thing.
There are about 8 seconds of silence at the beginning, due to my all-around ineptitude with the recording gear, I guess.
