Where Can I Find a Good Laptop Stand With A Small Footprint?
@hal_c_on that won't work if you've plugged any cables into the dock. it also seems to lack the stability of the Floater
@b1tr0t see my note about conserving desk space; i have a 24" monitor which is all the screen real estate i need
@O9scar that might just do the trick; good find, i didn't think to look for book holders.

Buttons!
Yeah, sorry if I was vague. The plan is to replace all of the buttons so they'll match.
Thanks for the tips folks.

Fixing virtual to fixing physical
Maybe an apprenticeship? I know a few welders around me that still offer both formal (through a school) and informal apprenticeships for novices to learn the trade.

Where should we vacation, next week?
Lake Wallenpaupack in the Poconos (PA) is beautiful. I'm not sure about pricing, but it's only a 3 hour drive from the city and not a terribly popular place for people to "summer" if your looking for someplace kind of quiet. There's a bunch of neat little towns scattered around the lake, and there are plenty of hiking trips to take in the region as well.

Yahoo's gone and ruined blo.gs
jimw nailed it. i prefer to read these sites in my browser, not via a feed.
Jim, I guess you would be the expert in this field. If you don't know of any comparable services, it's safe to assume none exist.
I'll just have to wait for Yahoo to get their act together, and follow Jim's blog in the process, as he does a better job of keeping users updated than Yahoo does.

Where can I get books printed?
I should be more specific. I'm looking to do this myself, at a Kinkos or something similar (I'd rather not have to send away for it), but they don't seem to offer anything like this.

How to make backup copies of mac disks?
I recently bought the Maxtor One Touch, and although I'm thrilled about the drive itself I am entirely unimpressed with Retrospect. It's just painful to use -- they maintain that it's so easy you don't need a manual, but I found it to be the opposite. I wound up using the One Touch button to trigger Rsyncx and that works great.
It will take you a while to run a complete backup at first, but if you do it often it shouldn't take very long at all (I run it weekly on my 50gb... [more]

Get at least the 512mb -- I'd recommend going even higher, but it doesn't sound like you'll be doing much heavy lifting.
The OS itself doesn't require much room on your hard drive -- disk space is really a preference I think.

This is fantastic -- thanks interrobang. These Tex Avery cartoons are exactly what she was talking about.
It seems in addition to The Car, there was also a T.V., Farm, and House of the future. Still hunting about for where to purchase -- Amazon seems to have a few Avery collections with these toons, but many are out of print.
