ebay has power adapters for the 1500 for 13 dollars plus shipping.

additionally, any of these models has the same power requirements (19.5V at 3.34A) as the Vostro 1500:

DELL INSPIRON: 300m, 500m, 505m, 510m, 600m, 630m, 640m, 700m, 710m,
6000, 6400 E1505

DELL LATITUDE: X300, D400, D410, D500, D505, D510, D600, D610, XPS M140

so if you find a generic/universal adapter that can fit any of those, you should be set

I've used 1&1 for over a year, and they have been excellent. great reliability, reasonably priced (6.99 a year), and their web interface is really straightforward.

I've heard the term "last mile job" used to describe this type of profession (mainly with parts of the tech/telecom industry that cannot be offshored).

upon looking at my event log, it does appear that its automatic updates that wake up the machine at 3am. This does make me curious, considering (I thought) that hibernation was for all intents and purposes the same as being shut down.

Nevertheless, I am pleased that the problem is now solved, and my laptop can get a full nights rest.

Worth noting the sound is not processed through the HDMI connections. The first HDMI connection uses optical and the second uses the coaxial port. This can not be changed, so it will not work with say SkyHD & a PS3 through HDMI as they both use optical (unless you buy a separate coax/optical converter).
