Ask post: Has anyone had success treating sleep apnea without a CPAP (or surgery)?
If you have the "ramping up" function turned on, turn it off. I've found that if the ramping option is turned on, I feel like I can't breathe until it gets up to full pressure. Full pressure right away has never bothered me.

Ask post: Help me get my son a good education!
I've been using SchoolMatters for my search. Lots of information, including test scores.

Ask post: Classical classics
Following up on the Naxos recommendations, I really enjoy one of their Podcasts (warning: iTunes link). They are only about 20 minutes long, but the host usually either reviews a new Naxos release in depth, giving plenty of excerpts, or interviews the composer/performer/conductor, again with plenty of excerpts so you can hear a good portion of the CD before purchasing.

Just found a feed link for the Classical Music Spotlight podcast from Naxos.

Ask post: RoadtripFilter: Fastest way to MO from NJ?
I haven't driven your entire route, but keep in mind that much of I-80 in Ohio is tolled and some of I-70 in Pennsylvania is tolled. I-80 is not tolled at all in Pennsylvania (yet!)

Since you're going to Jersey, are you really taking I-70 the whole way? I-70 cuts south at Breezewood in Pennsylvania to head toward Baltimore and DC. If you're staying on I-76 east of Breezewood toward Harrisburg and Philadelphia, the tolls do get kind of high.

Tolls in Ohio are a lot lower.

Ask post: Comcast DVR w/ Tivo -- any good, in 2008?
I would also recommend a TivoHD. With two single stream cablecards (or one multi stream) you will be able to record two programs on two separate channels at the same time (a definite revelation if you are coming from a series 2 like I did).

Without cablecards, the TivoHD will only record analog cable channels (most likely anything with two digits on a Comcast system). The TivoHD will NOT work with a cable box. (The other major benefit of this is no more IR blasters!)... [more]

Ask post: Can you be prosecuted for saying you're going to kill the president in song lyrics?
I hope this doesn't derail the thread too much (if it does, please delete this comment), but how would a threat against the president differ from this case, where a couple of high school kids made a "murder list" and are now being charged with "terroristic threats"?

Is being "charged" different than being "prosecuted"? I would think that the bar for being charged with a threat against the president would be lower than random... [more]

Ask post: I'm going to Disney World!!! (Crap, what do I do there?!?)
Just to correct one thing mentioned above - the Magic Kingdom is the only location on property where you CANNOT get alcohol - beer, wine and cocktails are served at all other parks and resorts on property.

Also, the Animal Kingdom can definitely be more than a half-day park, if you are at all interested in animals. The theming of the park is cool, and you can spend hours on the trails in "Africa" and "Asia" looking at the animals.... [more]

Ask post: Where can I take a vacation for epic stargazing?
This one is in Pennsylvania, but sounds pretty promising.

Ask post: Need some advice for flying with 2 toddlers
Something else to consider in place of a car seat is the Kids fly safe harness. I have not personally tried it yet, but we got one and are considering using it with our 16 month old in March. She flew at 12 months in a car seat, and we can also vouch for the GoGoKidz Travelmate. I'm hoping that the harness will avoid schlepping the car seat down the aisle of the airplane.

Ask post: I Wish I Had a Diffy
Did you end up trying Beyond Compare? It does have a full-featured 30 day trial period before you have to buy it. It does do binary comparisons, showing only files that are different (the program basically has two views - a directory view that shows files are different, then a file view that shows the specific differences. You would only want the directory view). It also has a copy to folder feature that seems like it would do what you are looking for and would allow you to see the different... [more]

Ask post: Renting a 15 seater passenger van in Las Vegas
I think a lot of places have stopped renting them because of serious safety issues. This is a link to a NHTSA website describing the problem.

Ask post: Non-hard drive backup needed for paperless office.
Any problem with using DAT backups? We use them for backup of a small web server and have had no problems.

Here's a sample from HP.

Looks like they would have plenty of space for what you need.

Ask post: Give me back my identity!
I wouldn't get too worried over identity theft yet; the debt collector must verify the debt to you, and as you have seen in the past, sometimes they are just trolling for people with a similar name in hopes that they just pay up. This website has some boilerplate letters that you can use to write back to the debt collector requesting more information. I've used some of the letters in the past, and in two of the occasions, we never heard back from the collector and in the third, we did get a copy... [more]

Ask post: How can I access public records?
To do reverse phone lookups, I've always used anywho.com. Click on the "Reverse Lookup" link on the bar at the top of the page.

Ask post: Overnight road trip stop, Columbus OH area to Philly.
Morgantown isn't on 70; it's probably about a half hour south of 70.

Are you into outdoorsy stuff at all? There's a Cabela's megastore just outside of Wheeling now. Pretty impressive to visit, though it's not really a "local" attraction.

Ask post: Should we hire my mom to be a daycare provider?
The biggest difference that I can see between a grandparent and daycare is what do you do when the grandparent gets sick, and is unable to take care of the child? Professional daycare will have backups and substitutes for this case.
