Asking on behalf of an American friend, who's been working in Canada (BC) for the last 3+ years: does anybody have advice on how best to get started on applying for citizenship?

Egads! Last-Minute-(US)Tax-Question-Filter: Can a person generally claim the "Qualified Payments" as listed on their 1098-T form (sent from the university in addition to a W-2) towards an education credit? Or only the amount that they themselves paid, rather than the amount that was paid on their behalf by the university as part of their whole assistantship package?

I'm cleaning out my Columbia, SC apartment and have a lot of stuff I'd like to sell. Is there a way to do a (non-online) "garage sale" without having a yard or garage? Would it be worth it to rent a stall at a local flea market?

I understand that hair straightening irons damage your hair, but currently I'm having to use a hairdryer to get my hair into any semblance of socially acceptable appearance anyway. Might the proper hair straightener, used with the right protective oils and techniques, at least do less (or about the same) amount of damage? If so, what one(s) should I consider?

I’m asking this on behalf of a good friend in Vancouver, BC, who’s going through an especially hard time right now. In her own words, she feels like she’s “drowning in her own life” but doesn’t know how to even BEGIN to address things. She’s willing to try counseling but could really use some therapist recommendations, which is what I’m asking for here.

I'm asking this on behalf of a friend, who's just bought a relatively pricey gallon of interior paint only to discover it's not coming out the color she'd wanted. What would be the best (i.e., most reliable and least expensive) way of fixing this? Can she simply buy a different color and mix her own?

Every dog I've ever known does that "putting their chin down on your knee/the nearest flat surface" thing when they decide they MUST have the tasty treat you're eating. It's ridiculously cute but ... where did it originate? No googling on wolfish or doggie traits I've done has mentioned it but I want to know more about it!

I'll soon be in Vancouver, BC for about 2 weeks, and it would be helpful for me to have a cell phone while I'm out there - but only while I'm out there. Would a prepaid cell phone be my best bet? If so, any suggestions as to where to pick one up? If not, what else might work?
