Sleep is for the weak . . . and for me.
I think naps are better because you only nap when you need it. Usually, people dont plan naps -- they fall asleep, or decide that they have to get some rest. You say you "nap only rarely," but you probably nap when you require a nap, making the nap very effective. Nighttime sleep, on the other hand, is more of a scheduled activity.
I also really like the disturbance insight above. Good point.

by "disturbance insight," I mean pointing out that disturbances are less likely during shorter naps. Even if they are hours long, a night's sleep should in theory be disrupted more.

Hello, Maytag Man?
what people are point out is that, yes, the lender will notice. However, they won't care: they just want to be able to check off that little box.

I love books, but there are so many out there
To solve the issue of abandoning: I tend to be working on around 4 or 5 books at a time, which I cycle through. This prevents me from throwing out a book just because of storyline fatigue, as I usually return to the good ones in time. If I'm never motivated to return to a good book then I basically abandon it, by default.
This is my "method" as well. If a book isn't holding my attention, I'll start a new one in the meantime, and work on... [more]

Help me learn to play craps!!
Also, craps is the most fun, most social game at the casino, and you will easily learn the rules, etiquette and others' strategy from just standing around a table watching others.

Help me help me
nthing "wait it out." I've just passed the halfway mark of my internship this summer, and I felt the drained, overwhelmed and lack-of-direction you are describing for about the whole first week. Making it through each of the first few weeks felt like a huge accomplishement. I didn't get how people spent every week of the entire year with a 9-5 schedule (it's my first "real" job).
That feeling has largely passed. 5 o'clock comes before you realize it once you... [more]

Megabus vs. Boltbus
My girlfriend and I left DC once at 3 AM, were two out of the three people on the bus, and it got to NYC right on time. No complaints.

90 Days Of Pumping Iron
If you are simply trying to look really strong, I seem to remember that the actors in the movie 300 only worked out for their role for 8-12 weeks before shooting. But thier workout was insane, and has since become legendary. I dont know how strong it made them, but they certainly looked the part. So, it can be done.

GlassesFilter
I ordered two pairs from Zenni that I use exclusively. It's nice to not have to be worried about your glasses breaking whenever they aren't on your face or in a case.

Great words... that you actually use
I really like throwing around felicitous
exhibiting an agreeably appropriate manner or style; "a felicitous speaker"
marked by good fortune; "a felicitous life"; "a happy outcome"

Exciting food combinations?
you must expand your grapes-in-milk journey to include grapes-in-cereal-in-milk. Obviously, it only works with certain cereals. No sugary ones. The best: cheerios and rice k's. You can thank me later.
The question is good weird though. I look forward to more deliciousness!

What do I do with a pack of 25 young teens in the Bay Area?
run a scavenger hunt!
I asked a question about one awhile ago, you can look there for ideas. also check out UChicago's Scavhunt for an idea of how the best of the best make them.
Divide up into groups, have them take pictures, have an awards ceremony where you show great pictures and announce the points, and get a great prize for the winners.
If you do it right they will love it. Seriously, this will be great.... [more]

I stir fry veggies for one all the time. My favorites are broccoli and asparagus. Throw them in to the skillet with some olive oil and garlic, saute for 5 min, throw in some water and soy sauce until they are tender. delicious.

Ronco Salami Slicer?
as slenny pointed out, what matters is how much water, in linear measurments, is above the hole, as this will provide the water pressure.
Goolge tells me 10 million gallons is 37 854.118 cubic meters, so we can begin with that number.
This question is also difficult because the general equation yields for a difference in pressure between the top and bottom of the column of fluid. Usually, that is enough of an approximationm, but here, you would have to know the pressure... [more]

Life is. I am. Anything might happen. And I believe I may invest my life with meaning. The uncertainty is a blessing in disguise. If I were absolutely certain about all things, I would spend my life in anxious misery, fearful of losing my way. But since everything and anything are always possible, the miraculous is always nearby and wonders shall never, ever cease.
