See a nutritionist, find out what you are allergic to. Soy products, milk, and grains tend to produce a lot of gas. Check out Bauman college for a nutrition person, they are awesome.

Ask post: I love my cat, but I mean... I don't LOVE my cat.
I don't have answers, but I do have empathy. I adore my cat, but when I'm wearing certain clothes that must feel like mommy to him, he starts suckling and kneading, almost always (conveniently) near my boobs. It doesn't feel cute, like, oh look at that. It feels like, there is weird man cat kneading my chest. I could swear he's getting off on it, though he doesn't show signs of that like your cat. I usually just move him away with a slight bit of grossed out guilt. Good luck finding a solution.

Ask post: Help me become smarter and have a more dynamic personality.
Ask other people about themselves and what brought them into their field of work or what inspires them about what they do (or whatever event you are at with them). People generally love to talk about themselves, and love to be listened to. That alone will make them feel rapport with you (you do have to at least appear interested). Also, listening to how they respond to questions might help you build upon your own possible answers to such questions or conversations.

Ask post: Can I say goodbye to XP worry-free?
I'm hesitant to jump into the Mac v. Windows v. Linux debate, but really, it's often a matter of what you're used to, how able you are to assimilate new ways of doing things. As for hardware issues, I have to wonder how much of an angry anomaly these people are, as I've now had two macs, and had to have a total of two repairs (1 each) in 5 years. I had such a completely annoying experience on my Windows PCs, I can't even recall how many times I took it in to be fixed. And lock in on... [more]

Ask post: Reincarnation
There is a lot of anecdotal evidence that reincarnation exists. Past Lives, Futures Lives is one of them.

It seems quite silly to me that it wouldn't exist, why in the world would we not recycle ourselves?

I completely empathize. I was in a similar situation not that long ago. After feeling stressed out, frustrated with the communication issues (or lack of), and gaining weight (at a business that was supposed to help people lose weight), I decided life is too short to put up with this.

The only reasons I could come up with to continue to stay there was,

Ask post: Trying to be a good sister
I find that acceptance of what someone is feeling and where they are at in life, and just basically being loving towards them is most helpful. Usually when someone tries to cheer me up or feels guilty that they can't make me feel better, it just makes it worse. You could say something like:

Empathize "I understand how you feel. I've felt like that too sometimes. I think it's totally normal and human to feel like that. I'm happy to listen if you just want to talk... [more]

Ask post: Integrative Mind-Body Therapy for Anxiety?
Instead of asking is this legitimate therapy or new agey, why not ask, does it work for me or not? Who cares what it's labeled as if it actually helps rid your anxiety? There are many alternative therapies that do and don't work, and many conventional therapies that do and don't work.

On the alternative side, EFT, EMDR, Homeopathy, and Rescue Remedy is all helpful for anxiety, and they don't have pages of side effects like many of the conventional meds do.

Good luck.

Thanks for your answer. Just so the question is clear - I'm sure I can ask my people and they'd be fine with it. But if I turned it into a website where the purpose was people posting about others (even with the intention of gratitude), are there any legal ramifications or anything else I need to know about to regulate this kind of thing so I won't end up in trouble?

Ask post: More Hive Help with Hives
You might try a homeopath. I had a somewhat similar situation many years ago where I broke out with fluid filled blisters all over my body, so bad, it hurt to shower. I went to a dermatologist, naturopath, registered nurse who specialized in live blood cell analysis, nutrition consultant, doctor, and homeopath. No one knew what it was, and no one had a viable solution (the response varied from steriods to antibiotics to colonics and a variety of supplements - some of which sent me to the ER).... [more]

Missed the part about no therapy (though there are low cost options). Find a coaching school where they are looking for volunteers for their student coaches. You get fairly good, usually free, coaching that can help you stop listening to the lying voice in your head (we all have them, it just takes practice to change the radio station).

Ask post: Why is kitty trailing her poo?
Shoot, I don't know the answer, but I'm tagging this in hopes someone else does. Our kitties don't usually drop nuggets, but they do this butt drag racing activity on the rug. It doesn't happen all the time, thank goodness. No walking around the house barefoot, that's for sure. I have yet to find a vacuum that says - will pick up poo streaks left from cat butt drag racing.

Good luck.

Ask post: Help me find a behind the ear bluetooth phone headset with good sound for people on both ends!
SSF, the background sounds may happen when I'm speaking, and to mute and unmute all the time would be impractical. TWF, this is someone who is going to often be on the other end of my/my wife's calls, so she matters, and is more honest then picky. And in reading reviews of the headset, the same issues have been mentioned.

So, any suggestions out there? :-)

Scarabic, they're just wrong. It works well. Too well.

NMSRN, thanks, the Plantronics does sound like a potential winner to me.

Meowzilla, I'll have a look. Really? That's a drag, who has time to send headsets back and forth multiple times? It sounds, from the feedback I read elsewhere, that other people have the same issue. I'd try different methods first besides a pill from your doctor that likely has 3 pages worth of other side effects.

Check out BrainGym, it's used mostly in the classroom but it is helpful for people of any age, and should help with your short term memory loss. You can find them at www.braingym.org and www.braingym.com

Also check out the National Sleep Foundation, I'm sure they have tips, www.sleepfoundation.org

Ha ha, thanks for the useful reply. Because they've been right on many other things, including the best tool to create my website with, that would work will with how I do work.

On another note, one feature from Highrise that I'd definitely like to see in what I use is smooth integration with email, like this: http://highrisehq.com/email

Thanks, this is a start. FF, you're right, Basecamp et al are in some ways too simple in the function set, and have some just plain dumb flaws (ie not being able to calendar tasks more then a day away, on a specific day, and not have them be time specific, tasks are based only on completion time, not start time, etc) I'm not afraid of something being complex and feature rich, as long as I can make use of some of its capability early on, and grow into it as my practice grows.... Thank you Gerard. Have you used this yourself?

PatoPata, in reading Daylite's site, it sounds like something that one can grow into, starting at just contacts and tasks, expanding out. Yes I too like Highrise for the smooth integration of information like that. But yes, it's missing what I want to do as far as having a calendar, and the other things mentioned. What I'm trying to do is keep tasks/events from having redundancy, places I'll need to put the info in two... [more]

Thanks PP and Gerard, I appreciate the feedback. I'll definitely investigate these options. PP, it was interesting, last night I went back on Daylite, and having used HighRise for the past month, entering tasks just felt so labor intensive in comparison. But I keep hearing that you grow into Daylite. But I would be concerned, depending on your own server, to run it. We shall see...

You must go to Wild Flour Bakery http://www.wildflourbread.com/ (sorry don't know how to make a link) in Freestone. Osmosis Spa across the street is amazing too. Downtown Occidental is cute, quaint, and hip. There's a street, smack in the middle of downtown- which is two blocks or so (perpendicular to the main street, it's also the street that the nature center is on - I can't think of the name). Follow that all the way to the end and hit the ocean, it's amazing.

You could try flax seed oil or figs (sometimes soaked in hot water) help flush the system out naturally. This may seem like an odd suggestion, but if it works, who cares if it's odd or not. Take 5 minutes in the morning and evening, sit on the pot, and imagine the poop coming out easily. I would up your fruit and vegetable intake, cut down on the fake meat products, learn more about making tasty beans, only go for whole grains (millet, quinoa, brown rice, barley, buckwheat) instead of bread or pasta, and definitely up your water intake especially if you are working out more. Water is essential in weight loss. Variety is very important, meat eater or not, in order to get all the nutrients you need.
