God is an Astronaut
Good stuff.
I've heard of them, but never actually heard them before. Thanks for the links.

Life before ProTools
Actually, Cetera's the grinning bassist; he was an original member of the band and the lead vocalist on several of their early hits.
IMHO they lost their way following Terry Kath's suicide in 1978.

Don't condescend me, man. I'll fucking kill you.
Late to the convo as well, but I'd always understood that QT distanced himself from "Natural Born Killers", not "True Romance".
If that's true, I certainly wouldn't blame him; NBK was interesting to look at, but all over the map tonally, in my opinion.

Could you recommend some good - i.e., musically talented - jam bands?
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
You've reminded me of artists that I'd forgotten about (Gov't Mule, Medeski, Martin, and Wood, Aquarium Rescue Unit), gave me excellent resources to hear bands that I'd heard of but never heard (Widespread Panic and Phish), gave me names of some bands I'd never heard of at all (Cul de sac, Galactic, Umphrey's McGee, and many others), and drew a line connecting Krautrock and jam bands that I'd never have drawn myself.
Awesome!
Thanks!

How do I find my match?
In my experience, I've not found your assertion "unfortunately kink owners tend to get polarized into one big group of "alternative people" who dress in rubber and go to subterranean bondage clubs every week" to be true.
Under the big tent o' Kink you find myriad interests, from 50's household/Domestic Discipline (so that's why the Beaver's Mom wore pearls why she vacuumed!) to full-Latex fetishes to more-or-less ordinary folks who... [more]

How long does Zoloft, Paxil, Lexapro or similar depression drugs take to kick in?
My experience:
Zoloft: gave me a strange, metallic Godspliiter of a headache for the first 24 hours; other than that, nothing for four weeks. Then, at the beginning of week 5, I felt unexplainably lighter, perky, and almost giddy; this lasted for several days. By the end of week five I settled in to feeling normal, i.e., not depressed. The overall experience was like i had taken a welder's mask off and could finally breathe again.... [more]

The Fountain commentary
Didn't love it, but really enjoyed it.
A perfect film? Absolutely not.
A beautiful, flawed film? Absolutely.
As for Jackman, it's acting from him like we've (or at least I've) not seen before.
Worst movie ever? You need to get out to the multiplex a bit more often, friend.

Trouser Snake On A Stage
Yeah, I'm with nickysky here.
The Doors' music overall doesn't have the power for me that it did for the 13 year-old I was in 1967, but some of their music is timeless.
And, of course, some of their music was just tacky.
Compared to a lot of what was popular in the late 60s, though, I can still listen to with a straight face, and not just for nostalgia value.
