Stop messing up the music.
This is really interesting. I'm not a classical music expert myself, but the techniques defined in the essay could be used in other medium as well. It's not pretentious, it's basically just saying make it more human, and trying to detail what makes music more human.
If you forget the classical music focus of the essay it's still a captivating piece of writing on art in general.

wrong, wrong, and terribly wrong.
I would have brush it off as irony but Romain Gavras, the director, is a notorious rich white kid plagued with an obsession with ghetto imagery, he's Costa Gavras son.
It's a pretty common condition amongst rich people kids these days in France. Sarkozy's son has it, Jean-Pierre Cassel's two kids as well.
Let's hope research will find a cure soon...... [more]

May 1968
In France, boomers i.e smug ex-hippies that sold out when they reached 40, are actually called 68'ers (soixante-huitard). Libération is their New York Times.
And yeah, they will tell you how they were more sexually liberated and that the music and the drugs were so much better in those days.

This is the way the world ends
I have the same problem with D.C i never got into it until they started messing with their icons in the 90's. I remember reading Arkham Asylum, Dark knight Returns and Killing Joke in a row, without really knowing the whole story of Batman. Dark Knight returns was actually the first time i've heard of the joker.
In continental europe, DC was not really well distributed, it looked much cheaper than the marvel stuff. Everybody i knew was into marvel and knew very little about the DC... [more]

Sin Cities.
I met Hames in Japan, while they were shooting an episode for sin cities, the guy is genuinely nice and he's the heart of the show.
It's not all that well planned and a lot is actually resting on Hames shoulders, basically they put him in a weird situation and they follow his leads. So it's not like he's getting hired to play a pervy guy, he's the real deal.

Regardless of the artistic value of the posters Alvin made, those images had tremendous impact on my younger self (especially Gremlins).

Roy Scheider, RIP
.
During the mid 90's i always thought that he would make a come-back seeing how a lot of 70's actors got their career back at the time. The Scheider revival never came and it's a shame.

You know what Rob Liefeld hates drawing? Feet.
i'm a bit ashamed, but when i was a kid i used to think Liefeld, Jim Lee and McFarlane were the greatest things to ever happen to mainstream comics.
I was also reading vertigo stuff at the time, or what was going to be Vertigo, and i thought the art on those comics were the ugliest stuff ever. Well i still think it kinda is. The thing is if you compare the things DC was putting out at the time and Jim Lee's X-men you'll understand why everyone was thinking that those guys were the shit.

Black Metal? Norway? Yes Way!
As i watched the documentary i was shocked. It's the first time i see Virkernes and Aarseth without make-up and they look like skinny nerds.
Back in the day when i was reading about them in the metal press, seeing badly lit picture of them in make-up they seemed like huge terrifying dudes.

100 volts. And what you can do with them.
I saw them live about 5 years ago, it's a great show. Basically it plays like a company presentation, they introduce each instrument as a product and they make music as a demonstration.
The big finish is their company song.
The group is lead by two brothers, now i think only one is still working on it. Originally it was their father electrical appliance company but when they inherited it they tranformed it into a weird art project while keeping with the company image.
