Never leave dirty dishes in the sink. Rinse EVERYTHING. Clean your kitchen counters every day. Don't leave clothes or stuff lying on the floor -- you won't be able to see them. Kill any that you come across and dispose of the bodies yourself. If you can, call the exterminator. It may be pricey but it is worth it -- these ants can do a lot of damage.

East Nashville is a hip area with rough spots, but Antioch doesn't even have that. Generally, the part of Antioch closest to Brentwood (aka Brentioch) is a little nicer. Breaking things down definitely helps. If you write "clean bedroom" it can be too overwhelming and take too long before you can check it off. But if you write "scrub blood off walls, use stain remover on carpet, wash bedding, dispose of mattress" then it's a little easier to handle.

There is a wonderful children's picture book called Cat Heaven by Cynthia Rylant. It isn't so much a children's book as a book for anyone who has lost a beloved cat. I used Benadryl Anti-Itch Cream. It was time-consuming to put it all on, and it may just have been psychological, but I found it helpful.

Also, resist the urge to scratch. If you catch yourself scratching, stop! My boyfriend and I were covered in flea bites last summer. He scratched, I (mostly) didn't. His looked much worse than mine.

I have shown the Julius Caesar segment from Shakespeare: The Animated Tales. It's a BBC production, so the quality is good. A clip so you can get an idea of what it is like.

I'm sorry about your mom. My dad had hospice care too, and the people were so great. My mom and I were too numb to thank them properly at the time, but if I could do it again, I'd write a nice card to each of the caregivers (or if there were very many, a card to all). If I could afford it, I'd try to give them some money too.
