The head of security at my school (in iowa) sent us an email to the effect of "hi, there was an earthquake, people felt it in Des Moines." it also contained the curious line, "If you felt the shock waves and were on campus please send me an email and let me know." Presumably, our security office is planning on kicking the earthquake's ass.

Dude, the question isn't asking "help me to best mock nuns." Most of the jokes in the thread aren't even about nuns. ILB is in a show that, pretty harmlessly, pokes fun at Catholic culture generally.

as someone who is, yeah, sometimes the snarky "invisible sky wizard" comments and generalizations about all religious people (or members of certain religious sects) do get pretty damn tiresome. But when it bothers you, the easiest thing in the world to do is close the window, go outside, and ride your bike or something.

Kirth: I'm not a (tithing) Catholic (I am a student without any real income, so I just toss a few bucks into the collection plate when I've got it), but I'm pretty sure Catholic churches ask you to tithe 10%, divided up (along some formula) between the parish, the diocese, and charitable organizations of your choosing. (I think).

It might help people catch a handful of doubles on the blue, particularly if it's about an unusual topic (or, for newsfiltery articles like the Neocon Cruise, if people tagged things with the author's name).
