Are all contact lens solutions created equal?
I had an Human Resources teacher that took a tour of a Bausch & Lomb manufacturing plant as part of one her classes in her master's degree. She said that in the plant, the same solution is pumped into the all the same bottles; half were the ReNu solution and the other half were Wal-Mart brand bottles. I'm sure this is an industry standard.

Fundamentalist/Evangelical
The main thrust of Fundamentalism is that the Bible is completely inerrant. Every single word is true. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. You either believe it or you don't. There are a lot more tenets than what EarBucket listed that a Fundamentalist would have to believe such as the creation story and the miracles of Christ. When you believe the entire Bible is inerrant, you believe a lot of things.
From a Fundamentalist point of view, Evangelicals are more... [more]

help us by helping our coffee
Thanks for all the great answers. I was definitely rooting for the half-and-half, so I'll have to show the rest of my family that the hive-mind agrees with me.
As for me, I tried milk in my coffee today and it worked just as good as the half-and-half.
Thanks again for the answers!

US-election filter: are felons allowed to vote?
I work in my county's Voter Registration office. The only people that cannot vote are ones that are currently confined in prison or are serving on parole. Once they have completed their sentence, they can then become active voters. There are stipulations for felonies against election laws, but that applies to very few people. These laws are for South Carolina.

Why do some people wear shoes indoors?
American Southeast here. Growing up, whenever we were about to leave the house to go somewhere my mother always said, "Get your shoes on." This has ingrained into me that I should always have my shoes on or I might get left. Some days, I'll have my shoes on in the house for hours after I get home from work.
It's kind of the sense that you always need to be ready to go somewhere and you don't want to spend the extra time getting ready to leave.

How do I survive another day at my job?
I am in this exact same situation. I have about 3 and a half months until I quit my job and go back to school. I really can't stand my job and I work with some annoying people.
One thing that has really helped is to count down the days until I leave for good. 104 more days to go. It may seem like it would make it go slower but I started at 160 something. Time is flying by.
Podcasts are extremely helpful. I try to keep it on low volume that way... [more]

I need to understand
The main author giving me trouble is Jonathan Edwards, specifically "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" and other selected texts of his. Also, John Woolman. It's about 50 pages in one of those Anthology-type books so you can imagine the font is quite small.

Should I stay or go back?
No, not the CofC, but a well known university in Greenville, SC. Probably too well known...
I live about two hours away from my university so that means I live in the dorms and I really couldn't commute.
I will definitely be going back in the fall. Thanks for all the great answers.

Road trip along the South Carolina coast
Spend time in the larger cities like Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA. Please skip South of the Border and Myrtle Beach. They are total wastes of time. In Charleston, definitely see the slave market in downtown. It's not where they sold slaves but where the slaves would go to buy produce and meats. There is lots of shopping around the market including a lot of high end stores. Also, try to hit up Fort Sumter where the first shots of the Civil War were fired. The boat ride there gives you great... [more]

Lonely at the table
I would do several things: first, I would print out this question and show it to him. Ask him what suggestion he thinks would work best for him. Second, you might try physically dragging him to the dinner table. He might get the hint. Third, you and your children could take your plates into where he is at and eat on the floor. But you have to be careful with that because he might want to make it a habit.

Coughing after a shower?
Along the lines of ikkyu2, when I have a cold, I will sit in the bathroom and fill it with steam. The steam loosens up the phlegm and mucus to help it drain. Maybe the steam is causing your sinuses and nose to drain and it is irritating your throat.

Pimp my too-spicy chicken!
Cut the chicken into bite size pieces and put them into a salad. The chicken would be great with lots of leafy greens, tomatoes, and cucumbers or whatever vegetable combination you would want to use. Then of course, you would want to use a mayonnaise based dressing, such as ranch, to also help cut down on the heat.
