Offshore design firms?
Sigh.
The reason I am looking offshore is simply because our project was hit with a major scope change and we need a lot of illustrations churned out in a fairly short period of time. I'm inquiring about design houses (theoretically, it does not need to be offshore) that can handle/manage large(r) amounts of art specs.
We are currently working with local (American) illustrators (7, to be precise), but the load is heavy on them and I was merely... [more]

Amazing Dryer Balls!
Thanks, all, for the replies. I saw the knobby things in a Bed Bath & Beyond circular for $10...I think i'll give them a go.
I guess i'm more interested in them as a way to keep at least one chemical-coated item off my clothes (dryer sheets) and not so worried about the cost...if they fluff my clothes and take less time to run the dryer, then hey, extra benefit.

Being almost 10-years removed from my last Ithaca Wegman's visit...I share your pain and longing.
Not the same thing at all, but one thing I've been doing for a while now is having a crate of organic vegetables delivered (to my office...i'm out in the burbs) from Boston Organics. I love it...and while my guess is it probably equally the same price as getting the same things in, say, Whole Foods...there's something great about getting a big crate of stuff delivered to... As an addendum, while the new tv is HD-ready, we don't have any HD channels (ie: we're not trying to view an HD signal through RCAS).

Ah ha! I think the ant-mimic (castianeira descripta) that Dipsomaniac points to may be the winner...! It certainly does bear a striking resemblance...and the potential range seems to be more in-line with finding one in my kitchen. I don't recall it having as hairy legs as all the pictures seem to indicate, but reviewing the picture, I can see the tell-tale "single hairs" on the legs.
Also, thanks much for the bug identification links...!... [more]

I can't claim to know much about the classic, but I do know that I think Ursula 1000's mix cd "Ursadelica" was totally totally cool.

Wow, thanks for all the great advice...!
I think what I can distill from all this is:
a.) listen to the advice of professionals (our first visit with the midwife is in one week)
b.) view pregnancy "diet" books with the same skepticism as normal "diet" books (which, in our case, is much skepticism)...and makes me think we'll look at a few from the library instead of investing in... [more]

What is wrong with my arm?
Even after taking a short break (well, a holiday break of a few weeks where I got all flabby) from working out, getting back into the weight-lifting really stressed my arms out. Like...it-hurt-to-touch-my-triceps stressed out. It got worse a couple days after the workout, too.
But it will (or should) go away. Fluids and asprin helped out. If it doesn't go away...then, something is not normal.

My dog loves the litterbox but my cat doesn't.
We have two small dogs (dachshunds) that, if they had their druthers, would dance, sing, and be merry up to their ears in kitty litter (and the gross sundries found therein).
So we built a simple little stand for the litter box. Because they are small dogs, it didn't have to be that high...but it is high enough to keep them out of it (and we can store litter stuff handilly underneath it).

Winter car tips
I...second (or more) the need for an extra jug of wiper fluid. The best snow-tires in the world won't get you anywhere if your windshield is a crappy, brown mess.
Here's a tangental question about wipers: I *always* run into the problem where my wipers get misshapen (because of the cold...?) and they don't hit the windshield in certain spots...usually leaving a huge smear of road salt and splattered, untouched washer fluid right across my vision. I run my defrost to... [more]

If the problem is caused by gunk freezing up in the joints of the wiper you can buy winter blades that have sealed rubber boots covering the joints. Just bought a set of three for my Caravan from the local borg for $8 a piece.
I think it's more with the blades being "frozen" into a slight arc that doesn't quite make full, normal contact with the windshield...though, now that I think of it, maybe it is gunk in the joints you mention that is... [more]

Preventing mold in a fieldstone basement
Ditto on the bleach & scrubbing. Make sure you get a mask/respirator that is for fine airborne particles (don't know the particular ranking here...but they are all marked as such clearly on the package).
Unfortunatly, the dampness is going to keep the mold coming back...so, unless you seal the basement (somehow, and I imagine this is always going to be quite pricey), the scrubbing is just going to get rid of it for a little while.
Have you... [more]
