tylermoody: If the player can still jump, it's still 2d. The number of dimensions has nothing to do with where objects lie relative to the player character, and everything to do with the space that character can move within. I understand what you're saying in your post, and what the game designer is getting at, but the literalist asshole in me has to agree with Pollomacho.

Ever wish songs just sang what was happening in the music video?
The implication of this statement sickens me. Good thing the video caused me great mirth.

A mere three days ago, the wife and I were visiting the Japanese garden in Ft. Worth, singing "I kissed a koi, and I liked it".
Pity she doesn't normally go for the parodies.

What to do over Columbus weekend in Dallas?
This thread may be of interest to you.
I'll 2nd the Nasher, and throw in that you should hit up the Dallas Museum of Art and also the Crow Collection if you go there. All three are pretty much right next to each other. You could easily spend late morning and all afternoon there, and the cash outlay will be minimal Parking is $5 at the DMA, you may be able to find cheaper lots nearby if you don't mind walking. You can get a package admission to the Nasher/DMA for a... [more]

I don't want my kid to hate me because of her handle...
Children need full names, so you have something to call them when they're really in deep trouble. Naming your child a nickname deprives them of this easy-to-detect audio cue, unless you plan to further shorten the given [nick]name, so you can use the full [nick]name when they're in trouble, and I doubt that you plan to call your daughter "Ab" most of the time. "Soph", on the other hand, is actually passable.

Help with cable mod
If your monitor has a VGA connection, I would take WinnipegDragon up on his offer, or order an X360 VGA cable from monoprice. I have the old model without HDMI, so I'm using VGA, and it looks great.

Dog Attack!
I don't understand, kalessin, how you state that if your dog mauled anyone, you would kill or have him killed, but at the same time you are appalled by all the responses in the AskMe thread saying that a dog mauling a child should be killed. I'm aware of cognitive dissonance, but your position just strikes me funny.

Crap, nevermind. No heavy distortion on the bass in the Flaming Lips song. I could have swore I heard it in a car commercial, but the only one I can find right now is for mayo(and reference to a Canadian phone company, but I wouldn't have had the opportunity to see/hear that, living in Texas). Sorry for the bad answer.

rigging up desktop PCs to their car stereo systems
During high school, my friends and I recorded a few original and parody songs. We uploaded them to a previous incarnation of mp3.com under the band name "Bring Up the Bob". One of the songs was called Traffic Jam, and a user left a review that said "If you're listening to this on a linux-box hooked into your car stereo while stuck in traffic... don't."

When I was in school, the "chicken butt" variant was so common within my social circle that any time someone said "Guess what!" someone else would immediately respond "Chicken butt!". It was commonly followed by "Guess why!" and "Chicken thigh!" and less commonly by "Guess whipple!" and... well, you can see where this is going.

Where can I find drivers for my ancient digital camera?
According to the Canon Support site(click on FAQs), Windows XP(which I assume you are using - the same should happen in Vista, though) should autodetect the camera and launch the "Cameras and Scanners" wizard. Have you tried just connecting the camera and powering it on?
It is also likely that the camera would show up as a removable drive in My Computer.

I can only see one solution to the dice game. I played this earlier in the week, but I went back just now to look again, and I just can't see any other way for it to work.
Also, the red/yellow rectangle puzzle was one I had to refer to the walkthrough to get. I tells you "what" to do, but now "how," so at least I still had to figure something out on my own there.

A Woman In Danger?
Anecdotal: around Christmas 1996, my aunt's then-boyfriend was arrested during a routine traffic stop in Texas for an outstanding warrant in Utah. I do not know what the warrant was for, but I know she bailed him out the next morning.
This seems like the kind of thing that is best taken care of, one way or the other. It's entirely possible that, if ignored, it could bite her in the ass. I'm certain that being arrested would be more of a hassle than resolving the issue now.

If you're talking about reheating in a microwave, the temperature does not stay high enough long enough to kill much, if any, bacteria. Even if it did, you run the risk of ingesting toxins left behind that aren't destroyed by heat.
I routinely eat food that's been left out, but not that long or at that temperature. I don't think I would risk it.

Crap, sorry for the double, but damn near anything by Beck is total nonsense lyrics. Loser, Where It's At, Devil's Haircut, Sexx Laws, and Tropicalia are some great examples.
And thanks, Pufferish. I knew the band name was blank & blank, with blank being a repeated name, but I couldn't quite recall the name. Also: I know all of the lyrics to One Week, and at one point could accurately "rap" them. Unfortunately, my mouth isn't as quick as it once was.... [more]
