Time To Get Up

This is a rerecording of an older song of mine (probably my favorite). I hadn't listened to it in a while and was struck by how much fuzz noise there was. I put a capo on, added some stuttering percussion and some very light harmony towards the end, and I would love any thoughts on this new version. There is a discussion on criticism in MeMuTalk, and I would like to let it be known that my songs are always put up for criticism, whether one word or one paragraph. Comments make my day.

Hobbes

Here is an improvisational song written from the perspective of an older Calvin finding Hobbes in a box. It's recorded in one take with Mythbusters on in the background, and the chords are from this comment by sleepy pete. As such, I also tried to write the lyrics in his style.

Avery Island (Cover)

I stumbled across this wonderful instrumental on Neutral Milk Hotel's Avery Island today, and came up with an idea.

=D =) =| =( =O

I use instant messaging a fair amount to talk to people all over the United States and in Europe, mostly Austria, Germany and England. Why is it that smiley faces (as in =) and :X) are so much more prevalent in Europe (at least Northern Europe) than in America? It feels like one pops up every other line, sometimes twice in the same sentence. I should mention that I am young (18) and so are the people I talk to.

You'll Never Know, Dear

iTunes giftcard

I'm using Itunes v 4.0.1 on on Mac OS X v 10.3.9. The gift card I picked up last week in Starbucks doesn't seem to be working. I type in the code, and it says "Your session has timed out. Please try this operation again from the beginning." Is there any way to get by this? I've tried several times through out the day.

LA LA LA la laou laue lai LA LA LA

Whenever I yawn while listening to music, the music becomes not only distant, but out of tune. Why is that? My mother says it happens to her as well.

Bury Your Tracks

A more ambitious song I've been working on for a while. Would really, really love any feedback.

Forgiving Buckner

22 years after letting a ball roll through his legs in extra innings to lose game six of the 1986 World Series, Bill Buckner returned to Fenway Park to throw out the ceremonial first pitch on Opening Day. Here's a post on the Curse of the Bambino and the 2004 World Series

I'd say you've got about a 50/50 chance of being recommended by me

What should the response be at the end of a college interview?

That's All

Here's a somewhat sappy song about a former lady friend in DADF#A (I broke my high E string the other night, so no tuning for that one). I wrote and put it together this morning.

paintball and laser tag options

What are some good paintball and/or laser tag places in New Hampshire (or not too far over any of the borders)? Any with birthday deals? Cheap:Fun ratio? Cool fields, and game types?

How to kill a deer

Short story research: what would your average, on the weekend hunter use to kill a deer (gun, bullets, etc)? What is the process after a deer is killed? What is taken, and how, and what is left? How long would it take for what is left to be gone? Thank you!

I just added so many "acquaintances" and "met" to my contact list!

So I see on the meet up side bar that there are two meet ups on the 29th, and there were three on the 9th.

Here's another song, aptly named for its one beat per syllable nature.

Beirut Music Videos

The band Beirut released the Flying Club Cup on October 9th, and La Blogothèque has filmed unique, one take, on the spot, mostly public 'music videos' of each track.

The Long Trail

Foolishly recorded next to a loud computer. Features whistling, a shaker, and tapping on guitar percussion. Perhaps worth a rerecording someday. Named after a trail that cuts all the way across Vermont.

King Kong Song

This is the second song I wrote when I started learning the guitar in February. This was when I could not sing as I played guitar unless I sang one syllable per strum. Starts slow, but the second half is kind of fun so don't give up right away.
