Help me deal with my sweetie's depression!
Sorry to hear abut your troubles.
I've been in a somewhat similar situation, albeit not as extreme as yours. I've found that there's no magic cure, it's a case of doing what helps. And making sure you help yourself as well.
Company and support are two of the most important things you can do. Books can help you to do that. There was a "Big Issue" issue that had a number of articles by people suffering depression, it helped me to... [more]

Computerized "Job Jar"?
A computerised solution would be cool, but i don't know of any. Does sound like a good idea, tho.
What you could do is keep it analog... just pick out the jobs that you could do, give each a number, and find/build a random number generator. Not as cool, but workable.
I'm also quite sure that even if the exact thing you're looking for isn't out there, then there are thigns that you could combine to do what you're trying to do.
Sorry I'm not entirely helpful.

How to speak with someone who stutters
As a stutterer myself (it's quite mild, but can still get in the way).
What's the proper etiquette when you're speaking to someone with a stutter?
You don't have to do anything special, apart from maybe waiting slightly longer for them to say things. Like any other conversation, give them a chance to put their point in, and then respond.
Do you stutter? What are you thinking as it's happening?

Books about everything to do with Australia
Well, one book that matches perfectly is The Little Aussie Fact Book. It's actually quite good.
Also: Australia is big. No, really. it's big. From Spain to the edge of Russia, and from italy to edge of UK. It's just smaller than mainland US. So if you want to travel, plan ahead.
Bill Bryson's book is a good one. Also look for 'Down Under', which is similar.
As to Brisbane (since that's where I am just... [more]

Would-be intestinal bacteria snob seeks counsel
Was wandering, shouldn't your intestines should get the bacteria it needs back naturally?
But i guess you need to get the good bacteria back into you while on anti-biotics. probably go for the yogurt, and simple carbohydrates. Unfortunately, you probably need to go for more processed foods, to help your digestion and reduce the chance of getting 'bad' bacteria.
Probably something you should talk to you doctor about.

What to buy my valentine while she's far away?
Hmmm... Long distance relationships are tough. As divabat (I'm the mentioned bf, btw) said interactive things are cool. Does she have a hobby or particular activity she does often? You could write a story about that, or make up a game.
Just want to reiterate the stringent customs rules in Australia. Sending plant/animal/food material is not really a good idea.
I find the best things remind rather than increase the missing feeling. It's a very... [more]
