Does smoking give instruments cancer?

We know smoking is bad for people, but is it bad for synthesizers? While looking at classified ads for various bits of musical equipment (speakers, synths, samplers etc) I often see in the descriptions "all gear used in a 100% smoke-free environment". Does this actually matter? And how come nobody ever includes that in descriptions for secondhand electric guitars?

Robot Guitar Technicians 2008 A.D.

Having always found the process of setting up a guitar slightly intimidating, I am so glad that there's now a robot that can do it for me. Plek is a German-designed system for mechanically adjusting the setup of your guitar. Short video here. I wonder what happens when the robot guitar tech meets the robot guitar?

Falling In Love With A Woman Reading Numbers

This is my entry for the spy music Mefi Monthly Music Challenge. The track is about an isolated Chinese secret agent in Canberra, falling in love with the disembodied voice that reads out numbers to him from China. I'm not that happy with the title.

Ooh Yeah I'm A Wild One

Wash it Out of Sight

One of the first songs my band Bone Table put together. We recorded it in July last year in the lounge room of a 16th floor apartment in Hong Kong. None of the neighbours seemed to mind the noise. It's a mid-paced song - lots of guitars, and if you listen carefully you'll hear the drummer smacking a piece of pipe.
