PublicMarkup.org from Sunlight Foundation
The
Sunlight Foundation has put together what we think can become model transparency legislation—
the Transparency In Government Act of 2008—and we now need help to further shape and refine it. The Transparency in Government Act of 2008 is a broad legislative effort intended to make the work of Congress and the executive branch more transparent by creating laws and regulations that would bring more information online and available to the public in a timely manner. In addition to drawing on bills that have already been introduced, several provisions of the Transparency in Government Act of 2008 are the result of the collaborative work of the
Open House Project.

About Us:
The Sunlight Foundation, a 501(c3) non-profit was founded in January, 2006 with the goal of using the revolutionary power of the Internet and new information technology to enable citizens to learn more about what Congress and their elected representatives are doing, and thus help reduce corruption, ensure greater transparency and accountability by government, and foster public trust in the vital institutions of democracy. We are unique in that technology and the power of the Internet are at the core of all of our efforts.
The Sunlight Labs (http://sunlightlabs.com/) is the forward thinking, "Web 2.0" development arm of the Foundation. The Lab prototypes mash-ups, web service APIs, and provides other technological support to our grantees.
