I bumped into my neighbour the other day and he asked to meet with us and his neighbours on the other side. Apparently it is a legal requirement in Ontario that when you undertake serious renovations that you discuss it with the neighbours. So I asked him what he planned on doing. His response: we're going to demolish the existing house and build a new one.

The worst noise I see on AskMeFi is simple: posts that suggest
that a question should NEVER be asked on AskMeFi. I keep wanting to flag them as "obnoxious" but that isn't specifically an option.
Why do people assume that if someone asks on AskMeFi that they are somehow prevented from asking a real specialist? To put it the other way, can we assume - especially when the poster SAYS so in their question - that the person knows to seek proper help, that they are just asking here for additional points of view?
People here are adults and just because someone asks something in the Green doesn't mean that they're going to let the answers they receive trump a doctor or lawyer's advice. It usually just means someone's a little worried and wants to know what this often intelligent audience has to say on a subject in addition to any other advice they might seek.

I want to install phpBB on my website, but I have a basic question to which I haven't been able to find the answer yet. If I am using a MySQL database behind MT for my weblog, can I install phpBB on the same database and assume it will just build additional tables in MySQL? Or does it require a completely separate database that would be addressed differently?

I have listed a range/stove for sale on Craigslist and I got a response from someone who's interested. He has asked for my name and address to send me the payment. All of that is relatively normal.

The bronze medalist in steeplechase threw a moon
after his race and had his medal stripped at the Canada games. Is it fair to penalize him as much as a drug offender in sports would be penalized, or should his medal be reinstated following an apology?
