It's telling that in Scandanavian countries, flavoured and fuzzy water dominate the stores. You will be hard pressed to find more than one or two brands of simple bottled water because everybody drinks from the tap. Best-tasting water I've ever tried as well.

That last jab at the "chinese information ministry" in the Prospect article is pitiful. Hahaha, wait till the hundreds of millions in China show up and 'hijack' our poll!
1. The chinese government probably does not feel responsible for any person of chinese descent the magazine decides to mention.
2. If it happens it will more likely be a grass-roots effort by netizens.
3. Since this survey is so obviously flawed anyway, they decided not to bother.

Given 75 college-going Americans, less than five guns is a surprisingly low number.

Coming from a place where nobody I know possesses a gun, and never having seen a real gun in my life, this sounds extremely scary.

Indeed from my personal experience I find Nordic countries to be exceptionally clean, orderly, and well-lit, both during the day and at night. And I've had no problems with rainy summer days - four fulls months of extremely sunny 18-hour days in the summer where I live. Not even a drop of rain. It's glorious weather.

Although it's obvious both sides are using the Olympics for publicity purposes, it still strikes me as hypocritical that there was barely any mention of Tibet for a long time in the media before the protests broke out in March. Feh.

Wait and see, the Olympics this summer's going to implode in one big gooey mess, and I won't be there to see it.

I don't agree with the way the Chinese government is dealing with the problem, but being Han myself it's hard to side totally with the Tibetans. There are many historical factors underlying China's claim over Tibet. Should any country grant independence to every area that comes along and asks for it? If China was a bit more democratic (like Spain & the Basque area) would it be less reviled for this?
