I would say that part of the issue here is your thinking you can help her with words. As others have pointed out, she needs actions more than words. If you yourself are not also stricken with shyness, then the best thing you can do is take her around to places and be vivacious and help her make new friends. Enacting change in one's personality is far far easier when it comes about as emulation rather than exploration.

I got a year free when I got my new Macbook Pro, and I used my .mac account for exactly one thing: giving myself a myname@mac.com email address and chuckling and thinking about how awesome that would have seemed to me if I were still 15 and a diehard mac nerd. Other than that, it's utterly forgettable. It does have useful features, but nothing actually useful enough to warrant the investment of time required to make it really hum.

If I were you I'd just give up on it. I'm 25 now and only just recently conquered my acne. I used prescription acne medication for about 4 years until it became less practical to get the prescriptions filled, and I never actually noticed any change at all in the amount of acne I got until after I quit. Of course I'm not suggesting that quitting helped my acne, but it definitely seems like the medicines weren't part of the equation.

Oh god. Whatever you do, do not try to use Narita on the first day of Golden Week. The day after would probably mitigate quite a bit of the insanity, as most of the wageslaves will be leaving asap to make the most of every day of vacation. I rather suspect (perhaps incorrectly) that you might even have less company the day after rather than the day before.
