I've Been Saying That Shit For years
The Vogue version is fabulous, though I can't find a working version (including the one linked above . . . "We're sorry, this video is no longer available.").But this one is just disturbing. And I think the one with Rick Astley would be better if either Rick or the senator were placed off-center so you could see them both.
I would like to see one set to "Afternoon Delight." And I would especially like McCain's head to be placed atop M.C. Hammer's... [more]

Oh, like the internets would ever fail you. Here you go.
Oh my sweet lord. It's beautiful. Thanks, miss lynster.

I just blue myself
Oh man. I use so many Arrested Development catchphrases in my daily life apropos of absolutely nothing, including but not limited to:
"It's tired in here,"
"And that's why you don't shout,"
"And that's why you always leave a note."
"This will shield me from the hot Mexican sun."
"These are my awards, Mother. From Army. The seal is for marksmanship and the gorilla... [more]

"Good afternoon, Bluth Company. Talk you off? Talk you off of what, Pop-pop?"
"George Michael. Oh. Hey. I thought you were . . . When's that voice going to drop?"

suprisingly interesting
Hardly surprising, considering that it is written by Atul Gawande. That man could write a book about paint drying, and I would read it. Twice.
Seconding inoculatedcities' recommendations of his essay collections.

Is there a paragraph in existence that cannot be improved by appending this text to the end of it?

I feel dirty and violated
I saw "Signs" six years ago and I still feel dirty and violated. No more M. Night for me since then. I learned my lesson.

Marky Mark was also great in Three Kings and Invincible. And I would totally do him except that we are both in relationships with other people and also we are not acquainted.

Take a looky.
It only lets you see the first X pages... it's not much different from Amazon's "Look Inside" feature, is it?
After the first few pages of some books, there is a prompt to look at the book in its entirety (which will start you over at the book's beginning), or to move on. However, many titles allow you to browse straight through.

Blue Collar Babies
Thank goodness my bad teenage ideas were limited to unfortunate haircuts and footwear of questionable taste. Terrible shoes don't need to be fed, clothed or educated. I did love them at the time, though.

What's the problem with Yale?
I had many fine teachers during my years at Princeton, but the one I think of most often was my fortune-telling professor, a complete hag with wild gray hair, warts the size of new potatoes, the whole nine yards. She taught us to forecast the weather up to two weeks in advance, but ask for anything weightier, and you were likely to be disappointed.
The alchemy majors all wanted to know how much they'd be making after graduation. "Just give us... [more]

Under His Robes
Awesome legal reasoning on page 23 (pdf).
Lawyer: Some facts are cumulative, others are hearsay. Some facts are both cumulative and hearsay.
Ramirez-Lopez: Can you say that in plain English?
Lawyer: No.

This little piggy stayed home, no longer.
I have a very low tolerance for kitsch, but I am inexplicably delighted by animals wearing human clothing. I love them. SO. MUCH.
My SO is trying to dissuade me from adopting a puppy. He thinks that once I start dressing it in cargo shorts and and parkas and teeny tiny t-shirts, full-blown insanity will undoubtedly follow. He may be right, but I say there are worse kinds of crazy.

I think this picture makes it pretty clear that Obama is not the Messiah. Ask yourself: would any self-respecting Messiah wear stone-washed mom-jeans out in public in this day and age? The answer is no, friends. The answer is no.

False. He would have taken that unfinished waffle, broken it, and given it to his aides with instructions to feed the thousands who had gathered to hear his message of hope.
And there would still be leftovers.

I can see clearly now, McCain is gone.
So that’s what 23/6 decided to do: hire three women with acting and singing backgrounds to create a video for Mr. McCain.
Singing... in the shower, maybe? I guess if they were trying to act like amateurs, they nailed it. Well done, ladies. Well done.
