Ask post: What to expect out of short stay in county?
3 days is just long enough to get really bored with jail and promise never to end up back there because the thought of any more then a couple days of that much nothing is enough to keep you on the straight and narrow.

I wouldn't be concerned for your safety at all, most of the people there will be friendly enough and you won't be spending enough time there to become part of any sort of pecking order. You'll probably learn to play spades and hear some funny assed stories... [more]

Also, I ate better in jail then I was otherwise at that point in my life.. but I was for all intents and purposes homeless at the time.. 3 hots and a cot, as they say.

Oh, and really.. dhartung and jaydar are talking statistics and bell curves.. The reality of it is, it is 3 days, and the people you encounter will AT WORST be intimidating enough to not make eye contact with them. That's about it. There certainly won't be TV or magazines, if you have anything to read at all it'll be a bible or Louis L'Amour.. I don't know what it is about Louis L'Amour but that's the most common author I've seen in any jail I've been in. Last time I found a novelization of an... [more]

Ask post: payg
If Cricket service is available where you are, I would suggest that. It's cheap, and abundant in minutes/texts. If that isn't an option, then AT&T Go would be your next best bet. If you get autodraft then the minutes you buy each month end up cheaper then most any other PAYG or Pre-Paid phones.

Ask post: Post Blind-date.. Does she dig me?
It was in the M4W dating section, no Casual Encounters or anything terribly salacious.

As for what I want, I don't know quite yet. I am attracted to her, and could see myself in a stable dating relationship with her and in fact enjoy the thought.. sex isn't very foremost in my mind as much as trying to see where she might fit in my life..

So what you're saying is that my instincts are correct?

There wasn't what I would call "indulgence" in the "kino" department.. (also, I wish there weren't so many "seduction" "community" "followers" "or" "at" "least" "vocabulary" "users" answering here) just a couple that I can remember clearly. When we were at the bar our knees would touch freely sitting next to each other. And I should note again that we didn't stop talking and laughing from the... [more]

Ask post: Is Vitamin Water Good For Me?
It is Kool-Aid, with one third a cheap mult-vitamin dissolved. It's a good alternative to a soda if you MUST have something sweet, or works well for hangovers, but apart from that.. It's Kool-Aid with table sugar.. the only benefit being it doesn't have High Fructose Corn Syrup..

Ask post: Getting up in the morning
When I have a job that necessitates early rising (not a morning person doesn't even begin to describe it) I over the course of a couple weeks work my morning routine down to a science. If I wake up at this time, it takes me EXACTLY 9 minutes to shower, EXACTLY 2 minutes to put on my shoes, etc etc etc.. If I remember correctly I would wake up at 6:47, be out of the house by 7:13 to catch the train at 7:18. It's a bit of a daredevil way of going about it, but it works.

Ask post: What goes in a care package to Kyrgyzstan?
Jokefilter: Vowels!

Perhaps an MP3 player loaded with discographies of his favorite artists?

Ask post: We love it. Deal with it.
I don't live in LA, but one thing that always tries to tempt me away from my Pacific Northwest haven is the amazing (and CHEAP!) comedy shows at Comedy Death Ray and the UCB Theatre in general.

Ask post: What can I eat with no teeth to speak of?
Yes, the surgeon gave me the by-the-book medical advice, but I was looking for some anecdotal advice which I find far more useful..

Ask post: How do we kick out our roommate?
She's just the one who has lived here the longest. 3 years versus everyone elses 1-2. By entrenched, I just mean she has a ton of shit and the biggest bedroom.

I am going to try to obtain the landlords contact info without having to talk to the problem roommate and establish with the owner that the problem roommate will no longer be living here. Hopefully that will negate any attempts at sabotage from the problem roommate..

The landlord truly does not care about our petty squabbles and in-house dramas, she takes our rent and doesn't even like to speak with us. It may seem dangerous, but I honestly love the situation. We give her money, she doesn't ask questions about anything we do. It has been this way for many, many years at this house.. We're all poor artist types, what can I say?

As for the roommate, it still hasn't been dealt with. I no longer want to contact the landlord unless it's... [more]
